Amanda's POV

"You're worthless." He sneered at me. "Nobody would like a śłút like you. You can't do anything. You're a mistake. Why the hell would somebody even talk to you? You're a waste of space and you're too fat. You can't do anything." He advanced towards me, ready to kill. "Nobody's going to miss you."

I heard the click of a gun, a flash of light. A bang.

The scenery changes. Instead, I'm in a car, with mom and dad. Laughing and happy chatter filled the air. "Mom," I whined.

She turned around from the passenger seat to look at me. "Yes, honey?"

"Are we there yet?" I pestered.

My dad chuckled. "Not yet, baby doll. We're almost there."

"Yes!" Damien cheered and clapped his chubby hands together. I joined the chorus and clapped too. I tapped dad on the shoulder.

"How much longer is 'almost there'?"

"Amanda, don't distract the driver." My mom scolded me and I pouted.

"I just wanna know how long we have to wait! I can't wait to go to Gramma's house. There are presents there!" I tapped him again. "Can we go faster?"

Dad looked back at me, one hand on the steering wheel. "Baby, you gotta be patient. We get there when we get there. Don't wo-"

"Tom!" My mother screeched and pointed out the window.

A blue car was swerving towards us, coming into our lane. 'Blue is my favorite color' I thought as the car came to us at an alarming speed. "Dad why is that car coming at us so fast?"

I didn't get a response. He looked back at me and Damien. "Got your seat belts on? Good," he looked back at us and there was worry in his eyes. "Don't worry. Everything will be fine. Don't worry abo-"

A horrible screeching noise made me cover my ears and a loud crash came after. The car went shooting back and down a hill. I unbuckled and, turning a deaf ear to my parents yelling at me, went to a crying baby Damien.

"Amanda get your seatbelt back on!" My mom screamed at me. I ignored her and hugged Damien protectively.

"It's going to be okay, Dae Dae," I cooed. "It's almo-"

The car suddenly flipped once, twice, three times. We were all thrown upside down, but I was the only one who went flying to the roof, as everybody else had seat belts on. My head hit the top of the car and I came falling down as the car flipped again. I smashed into the window and felt dizzy. As the car gave one final lurch, I was thrown into the back of dads seat and collapsed on my seat. I crawled to Damien and hugged him, getting dizzier and dizzier.

"Amanda!" My dads frantic voice rang through the car.

"It's okay Dae Dae. It's okay." I mumbled to my still crying brother and spun into the darkness.

I gasped and woke up, tears streaming steadily down my face, coated in sweat, and looking into total darkness. I reached over to my dresser but came back with empty space. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, the events of last night came tumbling back at me. I looked around to check if anyone was here but couldn't see anyone else. What I did see was the metal top of the knife, still wedged into the trap door.
