“Happy birthday honey!” My mother said as she shock me awake. Yes, today. My twentieth birthday. The day I finally leave home. The day I finally get to fulfill my destiny. My dreams.

“Thanks mother.” I replied waking up. I had to admit it felt good.  Finally getting my chance to do something for myself, for my family. Today is the day I will be taken away.

“Oh darling I am so happy for you! For everything. Today is such a special day for you and all of us. I will be waiting for you downstairs.” My mother was an easily exited women. She was happy all the time and frankly it was sometimes annoying but not today. Today would be perfect.

I got out of bed, showered and dressed in my best clothing. Today was going to be a good day. I walked down the stairs now fully dressed and groomed. A little make up never killed nobody right?

“Good morning Emily. Happy birthday.” My father nodded as I sat in the dinning room table.

“Thanks Father.” My father has never been an affectionate person. Ever.

I ate my oatmeal and toast as fast as I could because today was the day. “Honey Calm down.” Oh mother please let me be.

“They will be here any minute!” I exclaimed ignoring her. Could time move any faster?

“You know they won’t be here until 8:30. Its only 8. You have time.” Like always she was right.

I stood up from the table and started pacing around the house. I would miss it. Our house was modestly sized. We had everything that we needed and maybe a little more but nothing ostentatious. We had a basement, the first floor had the kitchen, dinning room, living room, a little study, the washing room, Dad’s office, the stairs to the second floor, and the deck. The second floor of the house had four rooms, every room with its respective bathroom and walk in closet, and a guest room. Our back yard had a pool I almost never used anymore and a trampoline.

I have one younger sister and an older brother; Lily and Warren. Warren is in college right now. He wants to be a doctor some day. Lily is still in high school. She doesn’t pay as much mind to her future as my brother had done. My parents are worried about it. Me, I have always know what would become of my life therefore it would have been considered useless to go to college and waist the money. I went anyways. I liked studying. I want to be a lawyer someday.

Its 8:29. They should be here at any moment now. I had butterflies in my stomach. A minute later tires were moving the gravel in our driveway. Three knocks on the door. They were here.

“Hello Mr. Brown. She had been waiting for you. She is really excited.” My mother informed opening the door.

“Mother, stop embracing me.” I came up to the door and curtsied. “Mr. Brown.”

“Ms. Petrova.” He bowed back. “Are you ready to go?” he asked formally. “Do you have any questions about this?” This question was a mere formality as well. We knew how it all worked since the day I was born, since day one.

The tall dark haired man stood in the door for about ten minutes waiting for me to get my suitcases down. To be completely honest, he looked young. Too young. In his mid twenties and he was not one of the Dragomirs. I wonder how he got his job, maybe the Brown family has an agreement with the Dragomirs as well? Don’t know.

“It's time. Say your goodbyes miss.”

I turned hugged both of my parents and then I was off to my new life. I had to admit, I was a little scared of what lay ahead for me. Maybe a lot.

Thank you so much for reading :)! Next chapter will be out soon.. let's be patient people :)
