I continued walking because as much as I would love to punch her in the face the last thing  I need right now is a suspension. On track for becoming valedictorian and all that because I actually pay attention in school, sorta.

"Well well well, if it isn't the not so better half," she said mockingly as I was almost half-way past her.

I threw her a nod, showing that I sorta acknowledged both her presence and the fact that she was talking. Turns out queen bee hates people not paying full attention to her when she attempts chewing them out, especially me.

"Cat got your tongue psycho" she continued after she noticed I wasn't going to stop and pay attention to her. I tensed and my left hand instinctively formed a fist.

The thing with Gale was she knew how to push my buttons. If you couldn't tell by her one-sided attempt at - I don't know what I would call this, bullying? Whatever it is, you can tell that her majesty and I weren't the best of anything and that's all on her.

See back when we were like 11 or 12, we were on speaking terms; amicable even. She was new and was unaware of my oddities, cause I did a bang-up job at pretending to be normal for James' sake. The last thing I wanted was for him to be known as the brother of the sociopath even though he thought it was cool for some reason. I was still coming to terms with the way I was now and I had a lot of anger and impulse issues, so I was a ticking time bomb then.

I made it pretty clear I was not a person to talk to -if my antisocial behavior wasn't enough of a hint for her I don't know what could have been-. Anyway, she was adamant on being my friend, so I let her think she was so she'd stop making such a big deal about it.

For her birthday she had a sleepover with a few other girls in our class and she had asked me to come, saying it would be fun. I obviously said 'no' but she knew my weakness. She promised to have a Pirates of the Caribbean movie marathon just for me and seeing as I had nothing better to do at home I agreed. While there I got this idea in my head that everyone should get matching haircuts cause I figured that makeovers were what people liked to do at sleepovers and an extreme surprise makeover seemed more fun in the 'prank' sense of the word. So when everyone was asleep I cut their hair almost identically, except for a few jagged edges -this would be the part where you notice my impulse control issues-. When I was awoken by screaming girls the next morning the smirk on my face made my involvement in their new hairdos all that more evident.

*Flashback to that morning*

"How could you!" Gale shrieked at me while my smirk remained unwavering. I was seconds away from falling over with laughter.

"I told you she was a freak!" Bethany, the present-day Gale of the 6th grade said to Gale, eyes welling up with tears "Now look what she did to my hair."

"Your hair!?" One of the girls demanded, "She did the same thing to all of us!"

I rolled my eyes at how dramatic they were all being. I didn't see the harm in a little prank.

"Look I'm sorry, she didn't mean it," Gale said coming to my defense.

"You're defending her?" Another girl called Abigail asked Gale accusingly.

"You guys it-" Gale, once again coming to my rescue, tried rationalizing what I had done to the other girls while she was still obviously mad at me for doing it to her hair as well but she was cut off by Bethany.

Thinking back I guess I never really gave her credit for trying to defend me, but the situation wasn't that serious anyway. Hair grows back, limbs don't; they should have been happy I didn't cut their toes off or something.
