It was Friday, and we all knew what that meant; Party!

Maiylee had been texting me non-stop about the party: double checking if I was coming, if I was bringing James, what I was gonna wear, if I was bringing James, what time I was gonna show up, if I was bringing James. Well you get the point; Maiylee wasn't into younger guys but she had some weird thing for James and I never entertained the thought because I didn't want my brother with somebody like her. Don't get me wrong Maiylee is good for a fun time or whatever but that's about all that she's good for sometimes.

I stood in front of my closet staring at the discarded pieces of clothing on the ground; my floor looked like Urban Outfitters graphic tee section threw up all over it. I finally decided on a grey sleeveless turtle neck crop top, black ripped jeans, black and white Adidas superstars and a hunter green bomber jacket. By the time I had gotten dressed, straightened my hair and done my makeup, it was almost 10. Well, who goes to a college party when it starts anyway.

I headed to James' room to borrow the car keys as I had no intention of catching a bus all the way to Huntsdale then hitching a ride back with some bum; that's a half an hour ride one way.

I opened the door to James' room and immediately thanked God that I didn't have Mysophobia added to the list of things wrong with me. There were clothes scattered all around the room: on the floor and bed, empty pizza boxes laying around alongside soda and water bottles, a weird funk and who knows what other kind of mold was just growing in this mess. In the midst of all the crap sat my brother and Max on the floor in front of his bed, too engrossed in their video game to give me even a courteous glance. I took their ignorance of my presence as an incentive to go hunting for the car keys before I missed the party completely.

I accidentally knocked James' biology text book off of his dresser where he usually keeps the keys; after climbing across his packed bed to get to it, and both of their necks snapped in my direction.

"What are you doing in here?" Asked James, "and without knocking too?  What were u raised in a barn?"

I stopped rummaging and folded my arms, facing him; Barn? A pig wouldn't live in this sty willingly.

"What does that say about you dearest twin brother." I looked behind him to the table where his video games were kept and started walking towards it after I saw the car keys laying on top of it. "And I did knock," I said as I approached the table, stretching my hand to grab the keys.

"I didn't hear you knock" he said eyeing me closely, watching my every move carefully to figure out what I was doing.

I gestured to his loud TV to the game of Tekken that he thought was paused but in reality Max continued playing and was currently kicking his disadvantaged character's sorry butt.

"Would you have heard me anyway" I deadpanned. I didn't actually knock, I just walked in without a care in the world but he doesn't need to know that. I grabbed the keys and made a move to the door to leave.

James jumped to his feet to stop me "Heyyy, where are you going with the car keys." He finally took in my attire "And why are you all dressed up?" he asked.

"Maiylee invited me to a party over in Huntsdale and I thought about walking but these boots weren't made for that" I answered sarcastically, quoting Nancy Sinatra.

He rolled his eyes at me, Max finally got up from his game after beating James at Tekken for what was probably 'the first time in forever'.

If you don't know where that quote came from, I'm not sure I should allow you to have front row seats to my life. Anyway....

Max got up and stared at me for a moment and gave me that adorable, shy smile and nervously ran his hand through his hair, ruffling it in the process. I winked at him to tease him and his cheeks reddened almost instantly.
