"I heard you went to Paula's party last night." Karen whispered at Nick.
It was the last class for the day, Film and Theater Arts. Sam wasn't paying much attention to what Mr. Spencer was discussing in front and instead was doodling idly on her journal. She was sitting beside Nick, Karen on the other side of him. Just as she heard her asked something about Paula's party, her head automatically snapped to face them.
"What happened?" She asked expectantly.
"Just the usual. Hanging out and drinking." He replied while busily jotting down notes from the lesson.
"Anything juicy? Did Paula puke from too much alcohol?" Karen asked expectantly.
"Nah... Nothing much really." He replied.
"Did Sebastian come too?" Sam asked trying to sound as casual as she could. She glanced towards where Sebastian was sitting and sighed lightly.
"Yeah. Speaking of Sebastian, he's really weird. He's been acting all too quiet lately and it kind of bothers me." Nick stated, this time turning his head to Sam.
"What do you mean?" Karen asked.
"I mean quiet, quiet. He's not talking much like he used to."
"Maybe he's thinking about something really important." Karen uttered.
"Like how he's going to dump Paula for example." Sam muttered unconsciously.
Both Nick and Karen stared at her. Sam realized that she said that one out loud. She just smiled at her too best friends. She can't help it if she wanted for him to break up with Paula.
"You can't be dead serious about Sebastian, Sam." Nick suddenly turned serious. "He's not the type of guy who'd take a girl seriously. He's just a typical jock."
Karen smirked at that last two words Nick uttered.
"I believe you're a jock too." She cleared.
"Yeah, well we're different. I'm not the stupid perverted jock." He replied defensively.
Sam wasn't so sure how to react to what Nick had just said. Maybe he is right. Maybe Sebastian isn't the type of guy to settle on a serious relationship with one girl. But, she just can't take him off her mind. And why was Nick suddenly turning protective over her? It's not like she's doing anything wrong or what.
"Yeah, whatever you say Nick." Sam uttered.

After class, Nick went to attend his usual basketball practice while Sam went to Karen's house to hang out for a while. The three of them decided on having dinner at the local diner after Nick's practice.
Karen's house was definitely huge. Her father was the vice president of a famous law firm while her mother runs a construction company. She doesn't have any siblings so she usually spends her time alone if not with Sam and Nick.
The house was empty when they arrived, aside from the maids that were busily cleaning their garden at the time. They headed straight to Karen's bedroom.
"I overheard the Cheerleaders talking about some new guy earlier. Paula was definitely interested in him, I can tell. She's been ordering the other two to get as much information about him as they can." Karen was clearly good at gossiping.
"The guy's in my Chemistry class. He's Chris Braden. Mr. Spencer said he's from Paris. We got to be lab partners too." Sam replied casually.
"So?" Karen grinned sheepishly.
"So?" Sam uttered in confusion.
"So? Is he good looking? I supposed because Paula wanted to get him." Karen continued.
