Chapter 8: Monopoly struggles

"Are you for real?!" I blurt out.

"Yep. Hand it over." Sebastian said. He held out his hand, waiting to take away a lot of my money.

Carter, Sebastian, and I are playing monopoly and I am getting my butt beat. I had all the pink properties, but both the guys managed to get the rest of the properties and take away what money I had left.

"Don't be a sore loser!" Sebastian said.

"Oh you can not tell me that when you're the one who took all of my money... I think you cheated!" I jokingly said while pointing a finger at him. He gasped and placed a hand on his heart.

"How dare say such a thing!" Sebastian cried. I smirked and folded my arms on my chest.

Carter watches our little argument and continues to laugh harder and harder. Eventually he fell to the ground and began rolling. Maybe partially because I took the whip cream next to me and sprayed Sebastian.

The game in front of me disappeared in front of me and my surroundings changed to my front yard. My mom stood in front of me. I didn't hesitate to jump into her arms.

"Mom!" I cried.

"I'm here. Cara! Where are you? Where have they taken you?" My mom asked.

"Lillian. She's after me mom. She has a bunch of powerful witches with her." I said.

"Where are you?" She asked again.

"Mom...I can't say." I begin to say. The tears won't stop running down my face. I have to hold back the sobs that threaten to leave my lips.

"They're powerful, and managed to weaken me. I can't let them anywhere near any of you. I'm so sorry." I explain.

"No! Tell me where you are!" My mom demanded. I hugged her and then backed away.

"I love you mom. See you soon." I said before Sebastian's living room was in sight.

Tears streamed down my face. Carter is in front of me holding my hands. I hopped up from the ground and ran to the bathroom, where contents from my stomach were emptied. I felt someone hold my hair back, and I assume it's Carter. I waited a minute before I decided to get up. I grabbed a toothbrush and began brushing my teeth.

Once finished, I turned and saw Carter leaning against the door frame. I ran to him and he wrapped his arms around me as I cried.

"She was so sad. It broke my h-heart." I sobbed. Carter tightened his hold on me and kissed the top of my head a few times.

"Hold on." Carter said. I wrapped my legs around him and my face is buried in his neck. Carter began walking and I head a door open and then close. Carter gently set me down on the bed in the guest bedroom Sebastian is letting us use. He pulled the blanket over me and then laid beside me and wrapped his arms around me. Tears still continued to roll down my face.

It killed me to see my moms face when I refused to tell her where I am. I can't imagine how my parents feel right now. But I can't let them get hurt. I'm not going to allow Lillian and witches/minions to hurt anyone. They have to be stopped and I'm going to be the one to stop them.

Carter continued to lay with me and do whatever he can to help comfort me. I turned to face him. He looked all around my face. He had a sad and pained expression on his face. His hands rose and wiped away the tears from tear stained face. He moved them back down so he was holding my hands now. We just sat there staring at each other.

"My mom got into my head, she's trying to find me. I told her that she needs to not worth because I'm going to stop Lillian. She looked so hurt. Her baby girl is out there getting ready to face a bunch of witches." I explained.

"You're not going to be alone. I can't let anything happen to you. It'll kill me." Carter said.

"I love you." I whispered. Carter brought his face to mine and gave me a short kiss before pulling back a little bit.

"I love you too." He responded.

I slept like a baby in Carters arms. I smiled at the last memory before I fell asleep. We both told each other the three special words: I love you. When I told him I loved him, I knew the words were true.

Carter has been here since day one of this.well, he did kidnap me so I guess it'll only make since he would be. But he's been here for me in a different way. Carter has been supporting me and staying determined on bringing me home. He makes me feel safe and has shown me what it's like out there, but in the end we have to try and get through it.

His eyes opened and a sleepy smile made its way on his face. I smiled and leaned over to kiss his cheek.

"Good morning beautiful." Carter said in a sleepy voice.

"Good morning."

"How are you?" He asked.

"I'm better. Hey Carter?"

"Yeah?" He replied.

"I love you." I whispered in his ear. He chuckled and pecked me on the lips.

"I love you too." Carter said.

Carter quickly turned and sat on me. He held my wrists back with one hand and began tickling me with the other. I started laughing. Tears brimmed my eyes and I tried to catch my breath between all of the laughing. I tried to tell him stop but nothing came out.

He stopped and let go of my arms. My breathing went back to normal and Carter stared into my eyes. I didn't want to break eye contact. I could look at his eyes for hours. His face began to get close until our noses brushed. Then he kissed me. It lasted a few seconds before he climbed up and walked out of the room. I sat there mouth gaped open.

He just walked out of the room. I hopped up and ran to find him. I found Carter in the kitchen making cereal. He went to go pour the milk but I used my magic to move it, causing milk to get all over the counter. He turned and found me standing in the doorway.

Carter made small steps towards me with something in his eyes. Time for me to run. I sprinted into the living room and out the front door. I can hear Carters steps behind me. I quickly turned and hid behind a tree. Carters footsteps were getting closer. About two more steps and he'll have me. I looked from behind the tree. Carter was nowhere in sight.

Someone grabbed me from behind and covered my mouth.

"Got you." Carter whispered. I let out a scream but it was muffled from Carter's hand. I turned and smacked his chest.

"Don't scare me like that!" I said. Carter laughed and pecked my lips. My stomach grumbled and Carter let out a laugh again. He grabbed my hand and led me towards the house.

After walking through the front door, Carter left the room to the kitchen. He came back in about a minute later with two bowls of cereal.

"Thank you." I squealed. I'm really hungry which is why I was so excited.

"We have to talk." I said.

"Uh oh." Carter responded with a full mouth.

"We can't stay here forever. I'm going to have to face them."

"You don't have to do anything, we are going to face them. For now, I think it's good we rest and gain some energy from our exhausting two weeks." Carter explained.

"Okay." I said ending the conversation. We continued eating our cereal while talking about random things.
