Chapter 23: Surprise!

"I really want to tell them." I whine.

Since finding out I'm pregnant and I'm keeping away from the basement more for the safety of me and my child, it's been more lonely. So, I've been hanging out with Maria and Justin more. They tackled me when I invited them over cause I haven't had the chance to see them too much.

It was so hard keeping the secret of my pregnancy from them. We talked about everything we possibly could.

*Flashback to them hanging out*

"I've missed you both so much!" I shouted.

"We've missed you too." Maria responded.

"How are you and that guy?" Justin asked, the last part sounded like he didn't like to talk about Carter.

"We're good. I mean, the best we can be."

"What's going on? You haven't told us anything that's going on. We know he kidnapped you and brought you back and you're still with him?" Maria asked.

"Yeah, he kidnapped me and it was a terrifying experience. I discovered this soft side to him and he realized what he did was wrong. His mom manipulated him into kidnapping me saying how I was evil and I would use my powers for evil. He didn't know me." I explained.

"He's really changed. He brought me home and I didn't realize I was falling for him until it was too late. I really do love him. He's a good guy. Please trust me on this." I begged.

"Okay." Justin's hard gaze softened and he sighed. I sighed a sigh of relief and hugged him.

Then I looked over at Maria waiting for what she has to say.

"You know I'll always support any decisions you make." Maria smiled and I leaped on her to hug her.

"I really do love you guys." I smiled, tears brimming my eyes.

"Don't cry. You're being way more emotional than usual." Maria said.

I froze and my smile faltered a bit. I covered it up quickly with a laugh hoping that they wouldn't notice, but they know me too much not to notice.

"What's going on?" Justin asked.

"Uh-I've just really missed you guys." I made up an excuse. Well it's partly an excuse because I really did miss them.

They both gave me a skeptical look before just letting it go.

"Now, tell me about this new guy I've heard you've been talking to!" I said to Maria wiggling my eyebrows.

"Come on guys! Really?" Justin whined because he knows once Maria and I start talking about boys, we don't stop for a while.

  Maria and I both laugh begin talking about this guy. She knows I must give the best friend approval.

*End of flashback*

"I know but maybe we should tell your parents first. I think they would want to know." Carter reasoned.

"You're right." I said.

"Of course I am."

"Hey, don't push it." I warned. Carter raised his hands in surrender and laughed.

"So, when should we tell them?" I asked.

"It doesn't look like I'm going to be leaving here soon and they're going to notice in a little bit. So...now." Carter said.
