Chapter 8: Ivan

After another 15 minutes I only had the last floor to search and then headed straight for his office. Mentally slapping myself as to why I didn't look her first. I rush forwards as this is my last hope of finding him soon.
I storm into the alphas office, but I wasn't ready for the sight that greeted me. Ivan was laying  on the floor his eyes rolled back in his head and his papers scattered across the room. My panic faded slightly and my instinct took over.
In the next ten minutes I managed to haul Ivan up and drag him into the pack hospital by myself which I'm telling you is no easy task, Ivan is really heavy.
When we got to the pack hospital me and a male nurse manages to haul him into a bed while we waited for the doc.
Suddenly something hit me, he started acting strange after we killed the rouges. The infected rogues damn!
I ripped of his shirt and saw a black bite with red and purple veins coming off it in all directions it was nearly covering his whole chest.
At that very moment the doctor arrived at seeing my panic he rushed over and started shouting out instructions to his colleagues as they rushed around I became oblivious to everything except what could happen to Ivan.
If you get bitten by an infected rogue there is only a 10% chance you will survive, you have a 15% chance if you have the blood of an active alpha, beta or delta in you. But even then it's a small chance. The infection eats away at your brain slowly at vital parts so you can't think properly, you sleep walk, you faint, and you become paranoid and think everyone is out to get you. That would explain Ivan acting so strange.
I grab his hand to reassure him and feel something strange. I turn his hand over and see a knife wound that goes through his hand, exactly like the one I inflicted on the person that attacked me. I jump back and drop to the floor. Ivan attacked me? He wanted me dead? I didn't realise I was broadcasting my thoughts until Tara And David (Ivan's parents) rushed in. immediately seeing their son was being cared for they rushed over to me. As I explained what happened still trying to piece everything together I explain the rouge attack, Ivan getting bitten, him going crazy and trying to kill me. Then I explained Ivan trying to kill himself (which explains the bathroom) because he's infected.
We're taught in alpha school ,which betas attend as well just incase anything happens to the alpha, that when you have a pack member who could cause serious harm to someone else due to a condition or infection or mental problem it's in their best interest and for that of the pack that we are to put them down in a kind way. That's what Ivan was trying to do. He was trying to put himself down so he wouldn't hurt me.
I burst into tears and Tara and David pull me close and embrace me as we cry together. For my friend and brother, and for their son.
