Chapter 1: Kuzen and Aeren

"Hnnnngh !!! .. Ahh.. Well that was a nice nap. Better get back to hunting or Aeren will yell at me again." I said to myself as I stretched my arms. My name is Kuzen Dragsord. I live alone in a house my parents once lived in. I picked up my dagger before heading outside.

"Look's like a good day for hunting today.. The sun's high up." I continued to walk until I saw Chief Fregor. "Hooy !! Boy !! Aeren was lookin' for ya !! Better hurry up !" He yelled at me from a distance. "Yeah yeah I know.. Sigh.. I better get my ears ready for this."

I continued walking to the village gate while stretching my arms when suddenly.. BAAM !! " Ughh.. Kuzen ?! .. What the- ? Did you just woke up ?! I've been looking for-" I hushed Aeren's lips with my finger. "Yeah yeah.. C'mon let's go already !!" I quickly changed the topic so she wouldn't be able to scold me.

That Girl's name is Aeren Hydra. We're alot alike in terms of situation. You know, parent's dead, live's alone, both Fifteen. I don't hate her but.. She sometime's yell at me for no reason. Although .. I'm already used to it. We're friends since childhood after all.

We walked to the village tavern to pick our quest. Aeren's still scolding me for waking up late. Uggh.. What a drag. We reached the tavern after a few minutes of walking and me enduring her scolding.

We finally reached the Tavern. "Hey Kuzen and Aeren !! Lively as always huh !" Said the Tavern Keeper as we enter. "So .. What do you got for us today?" I said with a bit of excitement! "Hmm.. Let's see here. Aah ! Here it is!" Replied the Tavern Keeper while showing us the contract. "Let me see Kuzen !! Hmm.. Five wolf pelts and a couple of fangs? Seems easy." Said Aeren.

"All right!! Let's go hunt for those pelts! Aeren! Let's race!! Ready... Go." I quickly rushed outside the village and into the forest. "Hey w-wait !!" Aeren also ran and tried to catch up to me. Ha! Like she could do that.. Pfft !

We wandered around the forest hunting for wolves and collecting their pelts. Wasn't really a tough fight. We're both pretty strong. I used a dagger while she supports me with her arrows. We met the quota in no time!

"Hey .. Kuzen. It's still pretty early. What should we do?" She told me while we're resting on a tree branch. "I don't know. Wanna hunt for some Dragons?" I replied in a teasing manner. "Those things don't exist here in Carin idiot! And it's not like we stand a chance against those." I think she was annoyed by my unserious answer. But.. Whatever. I always tease her a bit. I looked at her to tease her more when I saw her shocked face..

"K-Ku-Kuzen!!! A-a bear !!" She said in a panicking voice. "What ?! Woah!" We quickly stand on top of the tree branch before the bear spots us but.. It was too late. He was already charging at us. He's pretty big! He could reach us!

"Aeren! Let's split" She replied to me with a nod before jumping in seperete direction.

CRAAAAASHH !! "Damn it! This guys no normal bear! He's way too strong!" The tree we just leaped from fell down and crashed! The bear chased after Aeren who was in a state of panic.

ROOAAAAR!! The bear charged at Aeren with extreme speed! I quickly rushed behind the bear to prevent it from attacking her! The bear raised it's arm preparing to claw Aeren! "Aaaaaaaaah !! Kuzen !" She instintively shot an arrow on the bears arms causing it to stumble. I sliced the bear's thighs to disable it's movements before carrying Aeren to a tree branch.

"Hey calm down! We could kill that thing!" I tried to calm Aeren down. "Ye-yeah... I know.. I-i was just surprised that's all." You could still see that she was terrified but she's doing her best. The bear stood up once again before letting out a load Roar. ROOOOAAAR !!

This guy's tough! "Alright! Here's the plan. We'll do our regular routine. I'm going down. Support me with you best arrows!" I told her as I held my dagger. "You got it!" She shot the bear on it's shoulder while I dashed on it's side to try to land a blow to it's head! The bear recovered quickly then proceeded to scratch me! I jumped back just in time!

The Bear charged towards me! "Aeren! One more time!" I shouted at Aeren while taking a stance! She shot the bear on it's front leg causing it to lose balance! I jumped up aiming for the Bear's skull! "YAAAAAH !!!"

The forest was silent for a few seconds.

"Kuzen!!" Aeren jumped down then ran towards me. I looked at her before bursting out a laughter! "Hahahahaha!!" She started to laugh with me. " Hahahahahaha! .. That was a close one. If it hadn't been for my arrow you would be dead by now." She teased me a little while showing a smile on here face. This was the first time we experienced a battle that tough! We rested for a bit after looting the bear.

"It's getting dark. We should head back!" I suggested while standing up. "Sure. I'm so tired.. You should carry me you know!" Again with the teasing.. "Like I'd ever do that! C'mon stand up!" I held her hand to help her get up when suddenly-!

Wooooooooooooooooooosh !! "Hey.. What's that?" Asked Aeren. "I don't know.. Wind maybe?" It sounds weird though.. Like.. Loud flapping wings. WOOOOOOOSH!! This time it's louder! "H-hey.. That's definitley not wind at all! Go check!" She pointed on top of a tree telling me to climb. "Yeah sure sure.." But.. What could it be? I climb the tree then looked around the forest when suddenly-!! WOOOOOOOOSH !!!! Above me!?

And there it was. A large mosnster soaring in the night sky. I was frozen in shock! "What the hell is that thing?! A giant ?! With wings ?!" I was completely terrified of the beast in the dark sky, covering the light of the Moon..

I only came to my senses when Aeren pulled me down from the Tree. "He-hey.. Th-that's not what I think it is right?! It can't be.." She looked me straight in the eyes with terror on her face. I-I .. Need to calm down. "Aeren.. W-we should go warn them.. If it continues flying their.. Our Village." I suggested. "O-of course!" She replied.. We ran back to the Village while looking at the monster.. Scale as Black as Night.. Burning Red Eyes.. It let out a horrifying roar. ROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAR !!!

No doubt about it.. It was the monster from the tales of our Elders. A Dragon.
