Chapter 2: The Dragon

Aeren and I ran back to the Village as fast as we can! WOOOSH !! The Dragon was faster than lightning! In a couple of seconds it already reached our Village! "Oh no no no!! This is bad! Really bad! Aeren hurry!" I said while running as fast as I can. We can already here shouting from the Village as we get closer.

"READY YOUR ARROWS MEN!! DON'T LET THIS LIZARD INTIMIDATE YA!!" I heard Chief Fregor yelling at his guards. Are they planning to fight that thing!? What the hell!?

The Village was already burning. Screams can be heard from every direction. People in panic scattering around trying to escape.  We were hiding behind a rock. "Kuzen! What are you planning!? Don't tell me you-" I looked at her with a face full of anger. "Yeah I'll fight! I won't just sit here and not do anything! I'll join the Chief!!" She looked straight at me. I knew she was terrified. "Listen to me.. Whatever you do don't come out of here! If you have to just run!" I ordered her. "What the hell are you saying!? You'll just die there!!" She tried to pull me back but I resisted. "NOOO !! KUZEEEN !!" I heard her voice fading as I ran towards the Chief.

Chief Fregor was already equipped with Heavy Armor. It's a bit rusty but what choice does he have!? He was also weilding a Giant Warhammer! "Chief! I came to help!" I said. "ARE YA' AN IDIOT BOY!? ESCAPE WHILE YA' CAN!!" He shouted at me knowing we won't stand a chance! "THIS THING'S LEGENDARY! STAY BACK KID!! YOU'LL GET IN MY WAY!!" I couldn't say anything back.. An Aura envelopes his body. He grew stronger! "What the hell is that power!?"

The Dragon landed in front of us. The Chief throwed me back! He's guards went behind him.

The Dragon growls at Chief. Chief swings his Hammer at the Dragon's face!! BAAAAM !! The other Guards surrounded the Dragon while proceeding to attack. I couldn't do anything.. I was frozen in place. I never knew Chief was that powerful. The Dragon whip's it's tail knocking back the Guards. Chief blocked it but was still knocked back as well. The Dragon let out a Roar. ROAAAAAR !! It lifted it's head up. I could see fire building up inside it's mouth..

I instinctively jumped backwards. The Dragon let out a huge Fire Breath incinerating anything on it's path! I could hear the Guards screaming in pain. "Aaaaarrghhh!! .. Aaaaarghh !!!" I saw Chief Fregor laying on the Ground. He was badly burned. He looked at me straight in the eyes.. I know what he meant. He want's me to escape with Aeren. We were like his own children to him.

ROOOOOAAAR !! The Dragon bit Chief's left leg then threw him to the burning Tavern. The Dragon flew up breathing fire on anything that moves. I had to run! Even if I don't want to.. I can't let their sacrifices be in vain. I'll get stronger. I'll avenge them!

I saw Aeren standing at the Village entrance. She was holding her mouth, shocked. Tears running down her face. She saw that terrible scene. "Aeren.. I-I .. Couldn't do anything" My head went down.. She slapped me before proceeding to hold my arm. "Kuzen.. Let's run." Her voice was shaky.. It was all we could do. I tried to keep my cool. "Sure.." We ran back to the forest.

My mind was all jumbled. I almost can't think straight. I don't know how Aeren is handling this situation, but you can see in here face that she was scared to death.. We were to weak.

We hid inside the trunk of some huge tree. Before we realized it we fell asleep due to exhaustion.

Morning came..

"Kuzen.." I could hear a voice.. Calling for me. "Kuzen.. Hey Kuzen!!" I opened my eyes and saw Aeren in front of me. "Hey are you alright? How do you feel?" Look's like she regained her composure. "What? Of course I'm okay." I replied. I looked at my self. I have some minor burns. Oh.. So that's why she asked. Anyway.. "The Village!" I just remembered what happend, We went outside.

"Aeren.. How are you holding up?" I asked knowing that she was also shocked. "I'm okay. It's just.. It hasn't sinked in. I still can't believe what happend." We continued walking back to our Village.

Our Village.. Was reduced to ashes. It nothing like it was before. The Dragon was already gone. We both looked at each other. "You think others survived?" Aeren asked. "Probably.. Only the Guards were left behind. Chief sacrificed with them." I still couldn't believe it. Even with the Chief's power.. They were annihilated.

"The Chief was awesome huh.." I said to lighten up the mood. "Yeah.. He was pretty cool." She looked at me. "So.. What now?" To be honest I really don't know myself.. We lived our entire lives in this Village. The Elder's told us before that we shouldn't waste our lives here. That we should go and explore the world outside . I guess we have no choice now.

"Aeren.. You remember what the Elder's told us?." I asked. "About leaving the Village? Yeah.. I remember. You also think it's about time right?" She asked me. "What other option do we have? There's no use in us staying. Let's get what we can use!"

We searched for supplies.. Anything we can get. We found 25 silver pieces and a map. "Kuzen! I found a map!" She waves at me. "A map? Do we need that?" She looked at me with disappointment. "Of course we need it idiot! How are we supposed to leave this place if we don't know where we're going?" She scolded me again. "Oh. Of course I knew that. Here, I found 25 silvers. We could definitley use these more." Anyway. We should probably plan our destination. I think Aeren already have one.

"We should probably head to the nearest City for now. It would be best to gather information don't you think?" She asked me. "Hmm.. Alright. I heard they have Guilds in the Cities. Maybe we could earn some." She let out a sigh. "I said information not money." Said Aeren. Well.. The worst already happened. It was about time we start a new life. We stood up while looking straight at our path.

This was our first time leaving the Village. "Aeren.." I looked at her. "Hmmm?" She looked back while smiling. We both knew what each other's look meant. A new life awaits us.

It's either we stay down, or rise back up!
