"Hmmmm..♪♪Hummmm♪♪" Aeren was humming a soft gentle tune. It fits the forest. "So.. What was the name of that City again?" I asked. She looked at me with an annoyed expression. "What the? Ludeberg !!! L-U-D-E..!" I talked before she finished spelling the name. "Waaay to loong!!"
We were walking for a few hours now and it was already afternoon. The Sun was getting annoying. I didn't know it was this far.. We should have looked if there were still horses around the Village. "This sucks.." I said with a sigh. "Kuzen. We just left! Why are you feeling so down already?" She scolded me again.. "Well.. Of course! We haven't eaten-!" She quickly hushed me. "Kuzen!" She whispers
I turned around and there was a rabbit. Not just any rabbit. It was as large as a dog! "Woah.. Alright! You're today's lunch menu!!" The Rabbit noticed me then quickly run! It was fast!! "You're not getting away!!" I shouted. "I'll help you!" Said Aeren while taking out an arrow from her quiver.
I spotted the Rabbit again! "Aeren!" I shouted to signal her. She shot an arrow but the Rabbit dodged it! So close! "One more time!" She tried to encourage me.
I ran as fast I can, keeping an eye on the stupid Rabbit! This time I jumped on the trees. Aeren was already behind me on another tree branch as well! She shot another arrow and injured it's hind leg! Way to go Aeren! I quickly jumped down preparing to slash it's head when.. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!" A girl's scream came out of nowhere!
I was surprised and the Rabbit got away. "Damn it!" Now we have no lunch. But that scream just now.. "Kuzen! The scream came from their!!" Aeren pointed left of my position. "Let's go check what it is!" She already jumped from tree to tree! "Wa-Wait!!" I jumped up a tree then followed her.
We reached the edge of the forest and into the plains.. We saw a lady wearing a normal dress with a bandana as a hood.
We hid inside some leaves from the tree. "Three wolves? No four!" I whispered to her. "So what's the plan?" She asked. Now she's asking me? Fine! "Tss.. Alright shoot an arrow behind them, then I'll run and try to kill two." Did she get it? "What? No! Too dangerous! How about I shoot the one behind then you go kill the two. I'll take the other one before it notices what's happening!" She suggested. I admit that was a better plan so.. I just agreed. "Sure! 1...2...3..GO!"
She shot the wolf that was positioned at the rear on the head! Instant kill! Before the other guys turn around, I slashed one on it's neck then quickly followed up with a stab on the next wolf's side! Double kill! The last one noticed me and was about to attack when-! FWOOOOOOOOOSHH !! An arrow passed inside it's head killing it!
"Nice Shot!" I praised Aeren! She gave me a thumbs up gesture before jumping off the tree.
We walked towards the lady wearing a bandana. She was a bit surprised of us. "Uhmm.. Miss? Are you okay?" Aeren asked in a sweet voice. The lady took of her bandana slowly revealing her face. She was beautiful and just about a few years older than us. "Wow.." I thought in mind.
"Y-yes. Thank you very much you two.. I-I didn't know wolves here would go outside the forest." She thanked us with a beautiful smile! "Sure! No problem at all! So.. The wolves here lives deeper in the forest?" I asked. "Yes you're right. I always pick berries around this parts. This was the first time something like this happened. You have my gratitude." She bowed her head a little. "Aah! Eeh... We haven't introduced ourselves yet. I'm Aeren.. And this one here is Kuzen" she was probably uncomfortable of the unnecessary bowing. "I'm Lucille. Are you.. By any chance.. Survivors of Carin Village?" She asked us.. "What? You also saw the Dragon !?" Aeren and I said at the same time.
She invited us to her little cottage at the plains. It was very peaceful and nice. We told her about how we saw the Dragon and how it burned our Village to ash.
"I'm really sorry Kuzen and Aeren." She looked at us with a worried expression. She's really nice. "We're okay. But.. This is our first leaving the Village.. I'm a little worried." Aeren's head went down a bit. "But we're really fine! For starters, we decided to visit The City of Ludeberg." I told Lucille about what we plan on doing. "Ludeberg huh.." She said while thinking. "If you want to get started on something.. You should probably join one of the guilds and acquire Quests. You two are strong enough to handle those. But if you don't want to, there's this party system where you get teamed up with random people." She explained. "Hmmm.. Is it any better to join a party instead of a Guild?" Asked Aeren. "Well yeah.. Guilds in Ludeberg are big organizations. Not like in Heliathan Capital where small Guilds are in every corner. You should probably get to know the Guilds first before joining them. You might regret it." Lucille replied.
She's right. It may be too much for us if we committed ourselves to a Guild immediately. "Miss Lucille, you seem to know a lot about the City?" Aeren asked again. "Well yeah I lived there for a while. By the way.. It's already getting dark. The City is still two hours walk from here. Do you want to stay the night? As payment to my debt to both of you?" She offered us a place to stay. That's not bad. Before Aeren could say anything.. "Sure!! We'd be happy to keep you Company!" I know that Aeren will be shy and refuse. Aeren looked at me for a second before realizing my decision was right.
We ate dinner and stayed at Lucille's place that night. It was warm and cozy! I thought about the Guilds for a moment. I wonder what smaller Guilds are like. I slowly fell asleep.
(Inside my dream)
Wooooosh!! Woooosh!! "What's that sound? It sound's the same as that day.. Like.. A Dragon's wings ?I slowly opened my eyes and heard birds chirping. It was already morning. We ate bread for breakfast before preparing to leave for Ludeberg. "Kuzen, Aeren! Take this.." Lucille showed us a bag of iron ores. "I won't use these ores so here you go. Just a little gift from me. Take this to the City's Blacksmith, he's name is Barik. Tell Barik that I wanted him to make you some Equipments." She said while smiling. "Wow! Thank you very much!! This should help a lot." I remembered Aeren and I were still wearing low grade equipments.
We bid our farewells. "Come visit again!" Lucille yelled while waving at us. "See you!" Aeren and I said back.
"Lucille was really nice huh.." I said while smiling. Aeren hit my shoulder! "Oww!! What did I say? " I angrily asked. "Nothing!" She yelled at me back. What a weirdo!
Aeren and I continued on our way to Ludeberg..
