43: A Date...?

Niall's P.O.V

I want to take Ellie out without her knowing it's a date. Last night, while I was watching her sleep, I decided that I should tell her. Ok, ok. So, watching her sleep sounds creepy but I couldn't have said sleeping with her because that's even worse! Anyways, I will still be hurt if she totally rejects me but I want her to know. So at least I won't feel as bad.

I hold the necklace I'm giving her in my hand.

It was a silver key and I had the matching heart under my shirt.

I got it the day she was alone with Harry and pulled that prank on us. The minute I saw her she meant something to me. I couldn't tell what she meant exactly to me at first. But I soon realized I loved her.

I love Ellie Payne.

Ellie's P.O.V

"Niall. Are you ready to go yet?" I anxiously ask.

All I had done was taken a shower and, obviously, straightened and curled the tips of my hair. It was way too unpredictable to just let it air-dry. Then I had thrown on a cream colored, loose and oversized knit sweater with a pair of white-wash jeans and a light rose tank top under my sweater.

"Seriously, Ni. I'm leaving in one minute. With or without you." I say once I don't hear an answer to my previous question. I slip on a pair of brown, leathery boots that go just under my knees.

"I'm coming! I'm coming!" He flusteredly shouts.

"When did you do this?" I ask as Niall pulls out a picnic from the trunk of his car.

"This morning while you were asleep." He chuckles.

"Oh! Oreos!" I excitedly take them from his hands and shove a few in my hands, earning a few laughs from him.

"Listen... Ellie. I... I... Well, um..." Niall awkwardly tries to find the right words.

"I got you this." He sheepishly smiles as he hands me a key necklace. I quickly gasp.

"Niall... It's so pretty." My mouth gapes in awe.

Niall's P.O.V

"Niall... It's so pretty."

The sparkle in her eyes is prettier.

"I know it's a bit late. But I want to tell you something." I say as I put the necklace around her neck.

"You have the key to my heart." I finally say as I pull my own necklace out from under my shirt.

She just stared down at the necklaces in awe for a few minutes. Without a word.

"You know, Niall. I'm pretty proud of you. I wouldn't have the guts to do that."

I got something out of her. It's not what I want, though.

That's when it started to rain.

I've always wanted a kiss in the rain...

I remember her saying that while she was asleep on the plane...

"Ok listen, I really love you Ellie and when we touch it gives me butterflies. When you smile at me it makes my day.  And whenever you laugh it's the only thing I ever want to hear. I keep trying to get rid of this feeling but..." I can't finish.

"But I don't want to." I finish.

Ellie just keeps looking down.

"Remember when I said I was writing a song? It was for you. Wanna hear it?" I ask, almost forcing her to talk.

"Sure." She finally says.

I take out my guitar and start to strum the notes of I Do Adore.
