Emily's POV
A huge yawn escaped my mouth. Thankfully, Louis had let me sleep in today. Another great thing, my mom always went to work earlier on Wednesdays. I threw on a t-shirt and headed downstairs, unprepared for what I would find.
"Fine, she's yours." I heard a dejected Niall say.
"Here's an idea: let her choose. It's not up to us, anyway." Louis interjected.
"Are you kidding? Who wouldn't choose me?" Harry smiled smugly.
I figured it was time to intervene. "Me." They all jumped and started at me. Niall blushed, Harry just looked confused. "Sorry Harry, but I can tell you're hurting them. I don't want that to happen." I saw Niall holding his cheek. "Did you hit him?!" I was outraged.
Harry stammered. "I, I didn't, it was an accid-"
"Save it. I can't believe you would do this, over a girl! Really, I thought you were mature. Niall, go up, grab some ice from the freezer and I'll meet you in my room in a minute." I grabbed Harry roughly by the shirt. "You, come with me." I brought him to another room with a padded floor where my dad would teach me how to flip people, which is exactly what I did to him. "Honestly? No girl would choose you if you hit a friend to get her." I took a deep breath. "Give me your phone." He silently handed it over. "You are going to stay in here until I come to get you." I slammed the door and yelled on my way up the stairs. "Louis! If he comes out, wrestle him back in. Liam, Zayn, help Louis." I saw Niall sitting on my bed. I gently took the ice away and stroked the bruise. "Why?" I whispered.
Niall gulped. "He, uh, thinks I'm trying to steal you from him."
I took a deep breath. "Excuse me for a moment." I went into the little extra closet in my room. I kept a punching bag in there, both to practice and to release stress or anger. After a few minutes, I came back out. "Too much confidence, that's his problem. I bet it comes from all the millions of girls screaming 'MARRY ME!' As you've probably guessed by now, I'm not that kind of person."
"No." He said. I turned to him. "You're better." He leaned in.
I'm not sure how I knew what I was doing, but I leaned in too. When his lips met mine, fireworks went off in my head. A knock on the door made me jump. "Um, hello?" I asked, leaping over to sit in my desk chair.
My dad walked in. "What's going on in here?" he asked suspiciously.
"Niall wasn't looking where he was going and he hit the corner of the TV, so I brought him up here to take a look at it. I saw it was ok, so I started to work." I held up a piece of paper with some writing on it that I had done on Sunday.
My dad nodded. "Ok, I'll go see if the other boys want breakfast." He turned to leave.
"No!" I exclaimed. He looked at me, confused. "Uh, they're asleep! I didn't want to wake them, so that's why I brought Niall up here." A gigantic thump came from downstairs. I chuckled nervously. "Oh, they're awake."
I raced downstairs. "Harry, get back in there!" Liam said.
"No! I have to talk to her!" Harry resisted.
I rolled my eyes. "Oh, look, you're up!" I said loudly. They looked at me. "Harry, you can come out. For now." I hissed and threw him his phone back. Everyone backed off.
My dad yelled down the stairs. "Do you guys want breakfast?"
"Yes, Sir!" Louis yelled, bolting upstairs.
Everyone followed. "Emily, I-" Harry started.
"No. Just, no." I went back to my room.
