We walk in to the house and Lily jumps out. I practically scream in shock. "Lily! What are you doing up? You have school tomorrow," I say.
"Well, normally you and Curtis are home earlier. I got worried," Lily says, looking up at me innocently. Then she smirks. "Sometimes you see some interesting things when you stay up late," Lily says, collapsing in giggles. Just like the time Curtis left me the note, she begins to dance around, chanting, "Rosalie and Curtis are K-I-S-S-I-N-G, Rosalie and Curtis are KISSING!"
Mr. Davies stumbles out in his pajamas, and rubs her eyes. "Who's kissing?" Mr. Davies asks. "If you're going to wake me up, you could at least tell me who you're talking about."
"Rosalie and Curtis!" Lily exclaims. "They kissed! I saw it all! With my own eyes!"
Mr. Davies laughs a big belly laugh. He walks over to Curtis and tousles his hair. "Well, you certainly grew up quick, boy. I didn't even have to talk to you about it. You just went out and did it, didn't you? You're growing up, boy."
Curtis reddens, embarrassed. "Well, ah," Curtis stutters, "I was thinking about it for a while, but Rosalie was...dealing with a lot. I actually did it before, but, um, Rosalie didn't, um, appreciate it." Curtis shifts from foot to foot uncomfortably.
Mr. Davies clears his throat. "Well, boy, you chose well. Welcome to our family, Rosalie. You're a lovely girl," he says.
Now it's my turn to blush. "Um, I'm not marrying him, or anything," I say uncomfortably. But by the time I say this, Mr. Davies is one yawn away from nodding off.
I walk with Lily to our room, where Lily requests a play-by-play of our kiss. She wants every detail, every word said described. I tell her it all. When we're lying in bed, after I tell her everything, she asks me, "Rosalie? What happened with you and Alexander? Only a while ago, you considered kissing Curtis cheating. What made you realize you like him?"
"Well, what happened with Alexander was that...sometimes it takes a boy overstepping his boundaries to realize he's not right for you. To answer question two, sometimes it takes the wrong boy to show you who the right boy is," I say.
Lily nods sagely. "I get that."
I toss my pillow at her. "What do you know?" I ask, smiling.
