Lily's POV

"Business partners, huh?" I uttered softly as I shook my head and sit on the 3-seater sofa in the living room.

The idea that she gave me is ridiculous. Who needs those? Who needs a partner if you can work hard to achieve what you want?

Those people, they'd just stab you in the back and take everything from you. They'd pretend to be your friends but in the end, they'll be consumed by greed and power.

Trust.

Something that's hard to give. Something that's hard to earn.

I can't give my trust that easily. That's one of the things that I've learned from those mansion's walls.

My father taught me how to be a leader, he taught me how to be powerful and he taught me how to be cautious.

He told me that I am special, that I don't need anyone as long as I heed his advice. And he was right.

I am special.

Special in such way that people would think high of me as they hear my family name. I felt powerful, everyone looked up to me. When I speak, they listen. When I lead, they follow.

It felt wonderful, beyond wonderful. With such control you have over others. Yet, somewhere deep inside, I was lonely. Because along side with that power is fear. The reason as to why they follow and why they listen is because they fear me and it's not because of their will.

That's when I realized, that even I, feel the same for my father. I fear him. And the reason as to why I couldn't say a word about it is because I was so afraid of being a disappointment.

I was nothing but a broken doll. I depict a strong image of a powerful woman, but deep inside I was empty, I am lifeless. I am shattered.

I was a puppet on a string, moved and controlled by the fear of disappointment. Fear of looking into his blue eyes filled with shame.

Then comes a time when I finally put things into perspective. I saw the fear in your eyes. How ironic that the man who had his hands wrapped around my neck is now begging for me to stay.

I indeed once thought that i have everything in my hands, but then I realized, I was never happy. I felt nothing. I was never in control. And with that, I decided to cut those strings you tied onto me and savor freedom.

But, the years of living with you, taught me how vile a human could be.
You were one of them. You never cared about others. You never cared about me, mom, Michael, Jason and even Nora.

Everything is always about you and this business. I don't even know how mom fell in love with you. You're a bastard. I saw how you betray everyone around you; me, mom, Nora and your business partners. I listened to every phone call and I witness every betrayal. You always wanted to expand the company. You always use others to do so. You wanted your hands clean and you're so wise when it comes to plotting all of those lies. You make people believe that you're the innocent one but, you're a pretentious beast who knows nothing but to ruin lives behind other's back.
