Troubled

Chapter 9: 'Sir' Mr Anderson

Jack's POV

I smirked at Harri as she stood there awkwardly. She was shorter than me and her hair fell on her face and hung in front of her shoulders. She pulled some of her hair around her ear and looked up at me "so Jack, what do you want to do?" I laughed and shook my head "c'mon, your gonna help me find something to wear for my party" she smiled at me "of course! we can't have looking a mess for all your guests now can we?" She was so confident around me I mean I wasn't complaining or anything but it was so different to how other girls would act.

I lightly grabbed her wrist and pulled her along to the nearest clothes store and I felt her shiver at my touch it felt good knowing I was having this effect on her but this only lasted until she fell in sync with my long strides. We were looking through the men's section of the store when she broke the silence "so why you at the troubled school Jack?" I was shocked at her question. I wasn't so used to telling people but my reason wasn't that bad really."I got into some trouble ,you know the wrong sort of people which lead to bad things. My parents sent me to teach me a lesson but ended up wanting to stay so yeah. what about you ? She look like she was thinking about what to say "my step moms hate towards me sent me here but I'm glad to be rid of her for a while." I nodded.

I moved closer to her and gave her confused look with my left eye brow raised "your so weird" she let out a laugh "is that really a bad thing?" I shook my head "no it's not it's just I'm not used to it that's all." She slowly nodded her head as she went back to look through the clothes. I still stayed near her gently brushing her hand against mine every now and then.

It was 5:00pm when we got back from the shopping centre but we had to get back so we could get ready for the 6:00 meal at school. In the end I chose some black slacks with a light blue button up shirt and a navy blue blazer to finish my out for the party. I was happy I got to spend that time with Harri I seemed to get along with her well considering how different we are but who knows what's gonna happen.

"Jack over here!" Finley called me over to me to come and sit with them. I had waited for Harri and walked down to the cafeteria for the evening meal Harri turned her head to me "thanks for today Jack I'll see you Friday then?"  I laughed at her "I think we'll be seeing each other before Friday's history lesson Harri" she look at me with a smirk "oh really who said?" I got closer to her face "me" I was so close to closing the gap between us but  I was pulled away by caleb pulling me into a bro hug. Damn it caleb! I didn't realise how much actually wanted to kiss her until I got so close to her. It's just a good feeling I guess.

She turned away to walk over to her friends "see you later Harri!" I called sounding really pathetic .What's wrong with me? She waved back in response and went to sit with her friends.

Monday rolled around too quickly for my liking and I didn't like Mondays at all. I dragged myself out of bed and hopped into the shower I got dressed into my usual school uniform of black school slacks,white shirt (untucked), loosely tied tie and my grey school jumper with the sleeves rolled up and some all black vans. When I was finally ready I got my back pack and slung it over one shoulder as I walked to the door I shouted "Finley,caleb get up your gonna be late" and with that I slammed the door shut leaving them to sort them selves out.

When I walked into the almost empty cafeteria I was surprised when I saw Harri sitting on her own at her usual table I walked over and sat down "this seat taken?" She looked up from the sketch book that she was hunched over "well it is now, smart ass" her lips curved into a smile and she started laughing "ha ha very funny. You should be a comedian" she nodded "so I'm told" she continued to work on what she was drawing. "How come your down here alone?" She started to shade the drawing with large arm movements "oh Violet went to the library and Faye was still asleep so I came here. And I like to lean on a table when I draw but Faye wouldn't let me have the light on in the dorm. So this is the next best thing" she smiled and tilted her head at her drawing looking up at me her green eyes shining with too much brightness to say it was a Monday morning but still it was cute. Wait cute! What are talking about Jack.but there was no point in trying to pretend that I didn't like Harri because I do I like Harri but she wouldn't know that for a while.

"Hey you know next Friday, do you think you help me get the party ready? It's just the guys aren't much help..." I trailed off trying to find another reason for her to help me. "Yeah sure, where do you want to meet? She replied "errm how about you come to my dorm after the 6:00pm evening meal and we can walk to the club together?" She smiled at at me "sounds like a plan Mr Anderson!" I gave Her a pointed look "thats 'Sir' Mr Anderson to you" we both laughed at my goofiness and carried on making stupid, but not awkward conversations until the first bell rang and it was time to part ways "see you later Harri" I waved she waved back " see you later 'Sir' Mr Anderson."
