Something terrible has happened.
Am I seeing things?
I'm seeing things.
I should be happy, it's the last day of school. One last year, and I'm gone from this prison cell. I should be relaxed, I should take a break. Maybe go to the bowling ally with my friends, or sketch a new drawing? I shouldn't be fidgeting. It's fine, all is fine.
But,
"Who's that?"

Jess' POV
The bell rings and the shouting begins. Everyone races to get out of the building and escape the horrors of high school. We juniors, only got one last year to go.
Time for surfing, girls and relaxation.
No, I'm kidding. You really think I'm one for that?
I'd rather be huddled in a corner holding a pencil.
As I walk out the school and take my first whiff fresh, steamy summer air, something in the walled ally catches my eye.
I walk quicker to the corner of the street, and hear a shriek I'm very familiar of. My eyes widen and sprint to the ally and watch terror flash before my eyes.
"Alli!" I holler, running towards her.
The men in masks surrounding her, dropped their baseball bats and ran away.
Allison was curled up, gasping for air. Her red hair covered her face, which was bruised and pale, her eyes were dark and empty.
Her body swell and her legs were black. I was horrified. Her veins were bright purple, and blood stained her shirt. The circles around her eyes were a pure mix of green and blue. Her mascara ran down her cheeks and out her head oozed out blood. I never thought I'd ever see a sight like this, ever. But there lay my good friend, Allison Klepton, limp on the ground.
I yanked out my phone and when someone picked up, a tear slipped from my eye.
"Someone, please, help!"
The ambulance comes in an instant since the hospital is just down the road, and they reel her in as quick as they can.
Then it all happens so quickly, I can't even recall. My vision blurs, and it's like the next couple of minutes don't even exist. All I can hear is my heart beating, screams and sirens.
And the one long beep of Allison's heart monitor.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Allison's eyes roll to the back of her head and I let out a small cry. Her boyfriend Bryson sat beside me, and together we watched her die before our eyes.
"Alli," I croacked, as Bryson sobbed.
"Mr. and Mrs. Klepton will be coming in a few minutes." One of the doctors said to us quietly. She then turns her head and adds, "I'm sorry,"
The palms of my hands buried into my face, and I cried. Alli was the sweetest girl out there. We've been together since fifth grade. We met after the punching incident at class. She knocked some sense into me after I almost died. She was there six years ago sobbing with me when I would collapse on the ground crying for no reason. She knew her too, they met right before the day she swung. She went to therapy with me for six months just because I would storm off if she wasn't there. Alli helped me through the hardest time of my life. Now she's lost her life. It's not fair. It's not.
When I took a deep breath and lifted my head, a girl sat beside me. A girl with blonde hair and rainbow knee socks on her arms. Not just any girl.
No.
It can't.
Leslie.
I spun my head around and opened my mouth to gasp.
"Is there a problem, sir?" A nurse asked, chirping like a song bird.
"No," I managed to say, though my throat felt dry and my face turned pale.
The girl didn't look back at me, but her piercing grey eyes glowed and gaze on Alli was as sharp as a knife.
The blonde girl than walked into Alli and dissolved in her body. It was so quick, I wasn't sure if I was imagining it.
And I wasn't, because a few seconds later, the heart monitor started beating again, and Alli slowly opened her pale green eyes.
"Jess," She whispers, her arms quivering as she takes my hand.
"Alli." I mutter, managing a smile.
Bryson lets out a small gasp then strokes her cheek. "Oh, Alli," He said, tears streaming down his face. "God, I thought I lost you."
"Who are you?" She asks slowly. Realization comes across her face and her eyes widen. "Where am I?"
"You, don't remember?" I say.
"You saved me," She starts. "And the bats," She croacks. "And the-" Then tears start rolling down her cheeks. "But that's all." She continues, once she wipes her face. "But," She says. "Who am I any-"
"Alli!" Mrs. Klepton exclaims, blubbering like a child. Mr. Klepton cries aloud and runs to her side. She yanks Alli closer and hugs her ever so tight. "They s-said, you, you were d-dead-"
"Who are you?" Alli whispers, her voice shaking.
Mr. Klepton takes a step back and his mouth shuts. "Wha-"
"She doesn't remember." I say gravely.
"But-"
"Jess saved me."
Mrs. Klepton takes a deep breath and wipes her cheeks. "Though she may not know who we are, Jess, we owe you our lives. Thank you."
I say nothing and walk out the ambulance with my face loosing its color.
And I walk home without saying a word, but a million things on my mind.
