Chapter 8: Hospital
Jess' POV:
"What do you mean, we got a few memories down?" I ask, still examining the house.
How are we going to get in there without getting noticed? Maybe we should go through the kitchen door, and- no. How about climbing into the chimney then we- stupid idea! I was running out of plans. How are we gonna get Leslie's memories back?
"Will you just listen to me?" She snaps. I turn towards her, and wait for her response.
"I got all my childhood memories back. The only memory I need is the memory of the first day of 5th grade." She says.
"That's great!," I exclaim. "So, we don't need to enter the house?"
She shakes her head no and says, "I only need to remember where I was born. And a few other childhood memories."
I think for awhile then ask, "Do you remember where you used to live?"
She places a finger on her temples and tries to remember. I look at her eagerly until she replies, "Indianapolis."
"Where in Indianapolis?"
She squints, tries her best to remember and answers, "In a little town called Appleton, in a village called, Autumn Acres."
I smile and run out of Allyson's yard.
"Hey Jess wait up! Where we goin'?" She yells from inside, running out the house too to catch up with me.
"To the first train to Indiana." I smirked, sprinting a fast as I can down the sidewalk.
* * *
We take a cab to the train station and a fat counter guy was getting our train tickets.
"Name?" He says so monotone that I forgot that he was even human.
"Umm..." I mutter.
"What, don't know your own name?" The guy sneered.
"Um, my name is..." I stammer look around for inspiration and spot a man a man drinking Red Bull beer.
"Devon..." Oh God, what about a last name? My eyes dart to the right and I see a poster of Les Miserables on the wall. "...Hathaway."
Leslie shot me a glare and I shrug innocently.
"You related to the actress or something?" He snickered, throwing the tickets right at my face.
I peel the paper of my cheek and bite my lip. "Um, guess you can say that."
The guy rolled his eyes and pointed at distant train. "You're riding on Train 51."
"Oh cool, so what time is it leaving the station?" I ask, flashing him a smile.
"Um," The man mutters, checking his wrist watch. It was obviously too small for the big guy and it was covered in cheese powder. He licks the lens to see the hands of the watch and replies, "Right now."
"WHAT?!" I exclaim, frantically putting on my backpack.
I stared off into the distance and saw the train's tracks slowly move away from the entrance.
"NO!" I gasp. Leslie looks at me worryingly, and we both dash as quickly as possible.
"Oh gosh..." She grumbles, still out running me.
Her legs move really really fast and she is soon about five feet away from me.
"Hey, wait up!" I yell, but then realize my mistake. By passers start to stare when they see that there's nobody in front of me. I shoot them a guilty smile and pick up my speed. Leslie is already in the entrance and is gesturing me to come quicker.
