After many days of peaceful traveling we were nearing Helms Deep. The sun was high in the sky, signaling that it was noon. The women and children were walking slowly, keeping a slow pace with the rest of the group. I kept to myself since Legolas and I aren't speaking, but he was scouting up ahead and told me to be beside Gimli or Aragorn. I could hear Gimli speaking to Eowyn about dwarf women.
"It's true you don't see many dwarf women and in fact they are so alike in voice and appearance they are often mistaken for dwarf men." Gimli said. I could see Eowyn smile and turn to Aragorn. "It's the beards." Aragorn said quietly and hand motioned a beard. Eowyn shushed him and tried to hold in her laugh.
"This in turn has given rise to the belief that there are no Dwarf women and the Dwarves just spring out of holes in the ground!" Gimli said loudly. This time Eowyn burst out into laughter along with Gimli and I did also. Eowyn and I looked at each other and laughed even more. I glanced over to Legolas and he was looking at me. He gave me a small smile, I looked away and blushed.
"Which is of course ridiculous!" Gimli stated. The horse then suddenly screeched and skidded forward in a quick pace, causing Gimli to fall off the horse. Eowyn laughed harder and she ran after the fallen Gimli. I laughed hard on my horse, I was actually having fun. I never had fun in a long time.
"It's alright! It's all right! Nobody panic that was deliberate, it was deliberate." Gimli said as Eowyn helped him up. I could see Aragorn laugh lightly and I saw Eowyn smile. Aragorn's smile soon faded along with Eowyn's.
While I was smiling to myself and thinking about Legolas when he smiled at me like that on the first night that we met it just brought up butterflies in my stomach.
Until "A Scout!" I heard Legolas yell from a distance.
Aragorn quickly ran to see what was ahead of the group of migrating people. Aragorn quickly turned back and ran to Theoden "What is it?! What do you see?" Theoden asked. "Wargs! We're under attack!" Aragorn yelled loudly.
Hearing this caused the women and children to panic, great Aragorn! Thank you for not startling the children. They were screaming and shouting for their lives, and clinging to their children. "He just had to say it out loud and scare everyone." I muttered under my breath "All the riders to the head of the column!" Theoden yelled.
Arod was quickly given to Gimli who needed assistance to climb onto the horse. I quickly rode off to help Legolas., standing firmly on a large hill shooting arrows at dozens Wargs.
"Legolas!" I called out to him making him looked at me quickly. He looked at me very hard and he put a hand on my cheek and caressed it and he said "Be careful!"
I quickly rode off to face the wargs and looked behind me quickly. I saw Legolas quickly swing himself on Arod and riding faster to keep up with me. As I rode I quickly shot down warg after warg the marks on my body began to glow and I felt strength inside of me, it wasn't long before I heard the charging of the other soldiers heading to face the wargs. Both sides collided with force. A warg jumped on a soldier, knocking him off his very horse. I was caught off guard; a warg had collided with me head on. I had fallen off my horse, but I pushed the warg off me using my newfound strength quickly got my daggers out and stabbed it while it was getting up, killing it instantly another came at me and I was able to kill it but the Orc on it was battling with me and on my side I could see Gimli on the ground with many Wargs on top of him making me giggle.
As I killed the Orc that was battling with I went quickly to Gimli to help him then I went off to kill more and a few minutes later everything seemed to clear up more, I was on my horse again. There were a few wargs but I killed some of them. Until I saw Legolas and Gimli looking for someone.
"Aragorn!" Legolas called out quickly.
"Aragorn!" Gimli said soon after.
My heart froze.
Where was Aragorn? I quickly looked around but I did not see him. Tears were suddenly threatening to fall out. "Aragorn!" I called out. I ran over with my horse to Legolas and asked "Where could he be?"
Then there was the sound of an Orc's laughing and coughing. I turned and saw an orc lying close to a cliff. "Tell me what happened and I will ease your passing!" Gimli threatened as he held his axe at the orcs throat. "He's dead..." the orc laughed painfully. "Took a little tumble off the cliff."
Legolas looked enraged. He quickly bent down and roughly grabbed the orc and held his blade at its neck. "You lie!" The orc only laughed and dropped dead. Legolas dropped the orcs body and looked in its hands. I saw Legolas pick up the Evenstar necklace.
"Get the wounded on horses... the wolves of Isengard will return... leave the dead." I heard Theoden commanded causing Legolas to glare at him. "Come." Theoden said as he went to his horse.
"No." I said. Theoden quickly looked at me with shocked eyes. "Aragorn is not dead... He is alive..." I said.
"My dear, I can't risk the lives of my men any longer. We must keep going." King Theoden said to me as he bowed.
A tear slid from my eye, but then I heard someones voice like the one I heard when I was back in my world... Arwen. "He's alive"
My eyes widen, the marks on my body began to shine again. I grabbed Gimli and Legolas' hand and they both faced me and I asked "You both trust me right?" Legolas nodded and Gimli said "Aye Lassie, with my life even."
I smiled, gave Gimli a kiss on the forehead and gave Legolas a kiss on the cheek and said "Everything's gonna be alright." And then I ran as fast as I could to the cliff where Aragorn fell and jumped more like dive off the cliff and into the river, and I could hear Legolas shout my name as loud as he could.
