I cry Just a Little [Legolas FanFic] (WattyAwards 2013 Finalist)

To battle we ride

I woke up as if something just hit me in the head, but as I got up from my small bed it was nothing. It was still dark outside. I look beside me to see a sleeping Merry but no Eowyn. I looked around until she came bursting inside our tent with tears streaming down her face.

"Eowyn what's the matter?" I asked her. She was sobbing until she took me by the shoulders and said "You have to stop lord Aragorn, he is leaving." Shaking my shoulders lightly. 

"Is this why you are crying?" I asked while putting on my shoes. "No, Lord Aragorn rejected my love. His heart belongs to someone else." I stopped and hugged my brokenhearted friend, good thing she wasn't an Elf.

"I won't say I told you so, but I'm gonna stop Aragorn from leaving." I said as I pulled away, she wiped her tears away using her sleeves and then she said "Thank you Ella, you are a true friend." I smiled as I left the tent searching for Aragorn.

A few minutes later, I found Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas just in time before they left. I felt the marks on my body glow from the moonlight. I ran as fast as I could and block their way. "Where do guys think you're going? You can't leave us, especially when we need you tomorrow." I said not letting them pass.

"Ella, we are gonna be there tomorrow but we need to get more aid." Aragorn said. 

"Aye lassie! We are out numbered." Gimli backed Aragorn up. 

"How do I know what you're saying is the truth?" I asked still with my hands stretched side ways blocking the whole way.

"Legolas." Aragorn asked Legolas to help. 

"Ella we are going somewhere you can't go, tomorrow, you will stay here with Eowyn and that's final." he said as Aragorn passed me and when Legolas came up to me he leaned down and kissed my head.

I was dumbfounded.

It was already morning and everyone was getting ready. Eowyn was talking to her Uncle Theoden and I went to Eomer. 

"Eomer!" I called out. 

"Greetings Ella the chosen one! Are you in need of my help?" he asked while bowing down to me. I pushed his body up so he wasn't bowing to me and said "When you see Legolas in the field please keep an eye on him, and also if you see my Grandfather, for they mean too much to me." he smiled and nodded.

Soon everyone was gone that's when Merry,  Eowyn and I were hurrying up changing into our armour. Some of the Ladies said that 'They are making a mistake' or 'They will die' but Eowyn mounted a horse with Merry and I also mounted a horse, then we were off to war.

I just hope I don't die.

What seem like hours of traveling, Eowyn then called out "We are here." As we look down the hill that we were on, I saw that they were already in battle. My heart was racing at the speed of light. Eowyn squeezed my hand and said "We will make it through this." I smiled back lingering on the words that she just said.

"CHARGE!" I shouted as Eowyn and I's horse galloped as fast as they could towards battle. I felt my marks glow, good thing I was wearing long sleeve. but they could still see my face and I wasn't wearing my circlet.

Eowyn took the first blow by slicing an orc's head off, we both were slicing heads off, until we heard an elephant sound. I can feel that Eowyn and Merry tensed. We turned around and saw huge elephants. "Mumakil." I heard Eowyn whispered. Eowyn and I looked at each other and we both had the same thought.

I got out my bow and arrow and I shot the driver of the Mumakil, Eowyn went under and sliced its legs and I shot the forehead with my arrow and it went down. We both cheered but continued on fighting.

A few hours have passed and I was still fighting I lost Eowyn and Merry. I hope that they were alright, but when all of a sudden I saw ghosts fighting too and I whispered to myself "Can't this place get any weirder?" Then I saw Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas that's when my heart soared.

I was still fighting that's when I saw Legolas bring down a Mumakil by himself and I heard Gimli shout "That still counts as one." I laughed to myself and went far away from them so they won't see me.

When I saw Eowyn against the witch king, I went over to aid her, and I knocked off the witch king off his dragon looking lizard. Eowyn shouted "I'll kill the witch king you get the dragon." That's when I came face to face with the beast.

He tried striking me but I would always dodged it. I climbed its neck while it strike me and slice its head off with my daggers. I looked over at Eowyn and she slowly took off her helmet and said "I am no man." And she stabbed the witch king with her sword in the face, and a huge impact pushed Eowyn and I away and my head on something hard making everything black.

My head was in pain and I couldn't remember what happened. I slowly opened my eyes and saw Grandfather. "Grandfather!" I called out as I quickly sat up but a huge pain just ran through my head. "Ella, you must rest. You are so thick headed like your mother." grandfather said pushing me gently back down on the bed I was in. I chuckled and said "Mother, that's one of the persons I want to see right now."

"Where am I? What Happened?" I asked. 

"Well... it seems you have hit your head pretty hard on a rock. Eomer discovered Eowyn next to king Theoden..." Before he could finish I asked "Is she alright?" 

Grandfather chuckled and said "She's alright, Aragorn healed her but I healed you. Once we found Eowyn and Merry we knew you were here. We have been searching for you that's when Legolas found you next to the witch king's dragon." 

"Legolas found me?" I asked. He nodded and gave me that look like 'Why didn't you accepted his love'

I got up and went to the main room where everyone was at, as I entered the room I saw Legolas' eyes grew wide and I knew he wanted to hug me but I was just a few minutes away from my death. I then announced "I will no longer hide, I will go to battle and fight." 

"Of course you will it's your time now Ella." Grandfather said. I looked down on the floor. Grandfather looked at me and knew what I was feeling.

"My dearest Ella, born on the first day of Fall when the leaves bow down to your feet, first born of Lady Aubrey who can suddenly read and speak elvish at the age of 3. Whose eye color came out when she was born. Who once dreamed she would save the world, now is the time for you to show your true colors." Grandfather said as he took steps towards me.

I was still looking at the ground and even though there was no moonlight there was no fight nothing just the fellowship standing in the main room even with Eowyn and the rest of Rohan standing watching me.

My marks glowed but this time it wasn't green, nor red nor blue. It was gold. but my eyes remained green but a very bright green and I looked up and said

"I'm ready."
