Now I was the angry one, but that anger was soon replaced with a desperate panic when Tyler said, "I knew it," and turned forward again, crossing his arms.
"What? NO! Nonono, of course not. We are not together. Never have been, never will be." I hurriedly said and silence soon filled the car, "Please say something."
"I just don't know if I can believe you. I mean you guys have been hanging out together just out of no where. What? Is he like just a friend that happens to drive you to school and to Preston's soccer practices now for no reason?"
"Well," Gosh this looks bad, "Yeah, actually. Look, I don't know why I can't just have a friend that's a guy. I mean you obviously have a lot of lady friends."
He turned towards me again, eyes wide, "What's that supposed to mean?"
Now I was fuming with anger as I grabbed my purse and stuck on my flats, hopping out of the car, "Nothing Tyler, just forget it."
"NO NO NO, Ashton, wait," I heard Tyler's door slam shut and I felt a hand on my for arm. He whispered in my ear, "I'm sorry." Great. I can't say no to his charm! Okay, don't turn around. Don't turn around.
I turned around, "I'm sorry, too. I know the whole Tate thing may seem like that, but..."
"NO, don'ts say anything. I should have known. And besides, I don't really have a right to start getting mad at you for stuff like that."
"Why don't you," I tilted my head and put my arms around his neck.
"Well," He looked down at the ground, "I'm not your boyfriend so I can't just..."His voice trailed off, breaking my heart.
I let go of his neck,"Oh, I guess not. Okay, bye Tyler." I was about to walk away when he grabbed my waist.
"Wait! No, I mean... do you, do you want to be my girlfriend?" I stared at his face in surprise. His sweet, gorgeous face. OF COURSE I WOULD SAY YES! I had only been wanting him to ask me that since sixth grade! But then I had an idea.
"Hmm, I don't know, Nickels," I cocked an eyebrow and turned around with my arms crossed,"I was expecting more of an...interesting and clever way to be asked such an important question." I held the giggle that was bubbling inside of me.
"Turn around Ashton," I turned around to see Tyler Nickels, the guy of my dreams, HECK, the guy to every girls' dreams, down on one knee and holding out one of the roses, that was set out on our picnic date, to me, "Ashton Weathersby. Will...You...BE..."
"YES!!!! A thousand times yes. No! Scratch that a million times yes!" Tyler laughed as he stood up on two feet and handed me my perfect little rose. I giggled happily like an idiot as he then proceded to pick me up and spin me around. As he gently sat me back down on my feet, he brushed a strand of hair out of my face and knelt down closer to me,"Wait. isn't this going to make you it now, Tyler?"
"Shut-up and kiss me," I smiled at his playfulness and knelt forward to receive his kiss, which was the most passionate, sparks flying, butterflies in the stomach, no space between us kiss I had ever recieved. Well, not that I had received many, but at that moment, I didn't think I would ever experience any kiss better than that one.
We were still making out when a pair of headlights shined in our face. I then remembered that we were standing in my driveway. I then ALSO remebered that my parents hadn't gotten home yet from dinner.
"ASHTON GRACE WEATHERSBY!" Oh those familiar words could only be made to sound like a death sentence when they were coming out of her mouth.
"Hi Mother. Dad?" My mother stood with her arms crossed and my father didn't even look up from his newspaper.
