"How do I do that?" I asked, just as clueless as ever.
"You just do the same thing you did when you felt the energy around you. Only focus on the energy inside of you instead. But be warned, this may change your appearance slightly." He answered.
"Ok." I said as I closed my eyes and relaxed. 'What will it feel like when I find my energy'. I asked myself.
I sat there until I felt everything go numb. Then all my senses left me and then came back much stronger than they were before. I could feel grass, but it felt different. I felt each blade and all of them were wet and gooey.
'What's happening!?' I screamed in my head.
I could hear what sounded like electrical sparks jumping from wire to wire. Then my head started tingling. Shortly after it started, it turned into a burning that felt like my head was on fire. I tried to open my eyes to see what was happening only to find out that I couldn't. after my head stopped burning, my eyes started burning.
"What's happening to me!?' I asked myself now very scared.
"Relax. You'll be fine." Said a calm voice that came from nowhere.
I opened my eyes and found myself laying on the ground looking at a paramedic. Everyone and everything was so vivid. The colors were so rich, bright, and the contrast was so amazing that I could make out every detail on every single leaf on the tall oak tree in our yard.
"How bad is it?" I heard my mom ask.
I looked expecting to see her next to me. When I did look I saw her across the yard from me. I heard her like she was next to me. My hearing has increased ten fold.
'How can I hear her so well from here? She's on the other side of the yard!' I asked myself.
"What happened?" I asked the paramedic looking over me.
"You blacked out while swinging and fell onto a bucket of spilled paint. But you appear fine. Just take it easy. Ok?" he said looking over me.
"Ok, thank you." I said happy that I wasn't in pain.
"Jake! Oh, I'm so happy you're okay! Does anything hurt? Are you feeling okay? What happened to your eyes!?" She yelled the last part when she looked into my eyes.
"What's wrong with them?" I asked worried.
"Their blue!" She yelled.
"Some people have blue eyes, ma'am." The paramedic said not knowing the severity of the situation.
"Their blue!" I yelled and ran over to a puddle.
I looked at myself to see blue eyes staring at me instead of my green eyes. But they weren't your normal blue eyes, they were electric blue.
'This must be what he meant when he said that it might change my appearance. How will I explain this to everyone.' I thought to myself still staring at myself in the puddle with wide eyes.
"Ma'am, I noticed your sons eyes. I've never seen anyone with eyes that shade of blue before. Although they are amazing." Said one of the paramedics to my mom.
'Great, I'm a freak now. Not only did my eyes change; but they changed to a 'amazing' blue that shouldn't even be a color for someone's eyes.' I thought to myself.
"The only thing I can think of, and this really doesn't make sense either by the way, is some of the paint got into his eyes and dyed them blue." Said the second paramedic.
"Will he be okay?" Joe asked.
"I'm sure he'll be fine." Said the first paramedic.
Joe then ran over and hugged me.
"I was so worried when you fell off the swings and wouldn't wake up." Joe said almost in tears.
"I'm fine, see. I just fell and that's all." I said to Joe.
"What happened to your eyes!?" Joe yelled.
"I don't know. I just woke up like this." I said calmly.
"Your eyes are amazing."
"So I've been told." I said getting tired of hearing that.
"Look at that shade of blue! I've never seen anything like it." Joe said now wowed.
"Yeah, neither have I." I said with a fake smile.
"You look so cool with your blue hair and eyes." Joe said admiring my new features.
"Thanks. Now I'm going to wash the paint out of my hair. Thank you for helping me." I said to the paramedics before walking away.
I walked into the house and went upstairs to get a shower. In the shower I saw the paint washing out of my hair and wash down the drain. I enjoyed the warm water and stayed in there for five minutes.
After I finished, I got out of the shower, put on my clothes, and looked into the bathroom mirror to do my hair. What I saw shocked me. My hair was the same electric blue as my eyes; but my hair only had a streak of blue in it and the rest was the same medium brown it always was.
"My hair has a blue streak in it!" I yelled out in surprise.
Mom must have heard because she came running up asking, "What happened? Are you okay? Why are you yelling? Do I need to call the paramedics again?"
Mom over reacts to everything, she once punched the monitor for her computer when a ad with a picture of a zombie popped up and scared her. She punched the screen so hard her fist went through it like it was butter. This is one of those moments.
"I'm fine, but my hair has a blue streak in it." I replied staring at myself in the mirror.
"Your hair will be blue until the paint fades away." She said pointedly.
"Mom, the streak isn't the color blue of the paint. It's a different shade of blue entirely." I said thinking about what Haran said to me before I woke up.
'This may change your appearance slightly.'
"This must be another change." I said out loud by mistake.
"What?" Mom asked not knowing what I meant.
"Nothing, I was just thinking." I said as I opened the door.
Mom gasped when she saw my hair.
"This can't be right. How did this happen? How did the paint in your hair get deeper!?" she asked getting scared for me.
"I don't know. One minute I have normal hair and eyes, the next I have blue everything." I said confused myself.
Maybe it's only temporary; but what if it's not? What if I'm stuck like this forever? Why must bad things always happen to me? I'll work this out one way or another... I have to.
