I woke up on the plane and heard, "We have just landed and now you all may get out of your seats and leave. Thank you for flying Air Andrea with us today."
"Let's go. I can't wait to see uncle Steffen!" Joe said excitedly.
As we got off the plane, I looked around the airport and noted how big it was compared to the little airport that we left from. As I looked, one person in the crowd caught my attention. It was uncle Steffen.
Steffen isn't his name; but that's what we call him. It's a family thing. His name is really Steffon Strongheart and he almost looks the same as dad and is as tall as dad is; but Steffen is slightly more muscular than dad. Steffen's hair is black and his eyes were brown and they could pierce a man's soul when he's mad. Steffen always wears a suit and has a cool car that matches his suit. Today he was wearing a white suit with a bright red tie and had a red, five-seater convertible that looked very expensive parked right outside the front doors.
"There you all are." He said raising his arms and giving Joe and me a hug.
"Uncle Steffen, it's good to see you again." Joe and I both said giving him a hug back.
"It's Steffon. Deric, you've got them calling me that too!? Why would you do that!?" Steffen asked glaring at dad.
"I wanted to continue the family joke. It's good seeing you little brother." Dad said shaking his hand.
"I wish you would stop telling people my name is Steffen. It's gotten old and people won't stop calling me that." He added still upset at dad.
"Let's get going before we have to get back home." Mom said trying to stop them before they continued.
As we got into the car, dad asked, "How've you been?"
"I've been pretty good; and you?" he asked back.
"I'm still alive if that counts. I see you got yourself a new car." Dad said admiring the car.
"Yup, I found this car and saw it had a great deal on it. So I bought it." He said getting into the drivers seat.
Steffen started up the car and started driving down the road. The trip to Steffen's house was quite boring so I started to meditate.
As I was meditating, I saw images of a city in ruins. I couldn't tell what city it was but I felt saddened all the same. I hated to see people suffer. There was a familiar feel to the place where the city was. It felt like I had been there before; but I couldn't put my finger on where this was. I looked around and saw lifeless bodies everywhere. Whatever did this was terrible and a monster. The bodies were sliced like bread; and that was a terrible sight. I felt a few tears trickle down my face and fall onto my shirt. I couldn't stand that image; so I stopped my meditation and started to just relax.
'I've seen all sorts of images of the past present and future. Which one could that have been? I prey that that was the past.' I thought to myself while wiping away the tears.
I looked at Joe who had a worried expression and asked quietly, "What?"
"Are you okay?" he asked me in a whisper.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I replied.
"Why were you crying?" Joe asked again hoping for a better answer.
"I-I can't tell you Joe; not yet at least." I whispered to him.
I could tell that he was trying to help; but I couldn't tell him about my powers.
I was going to lie to him; but something told me that, that would compromise my honor and integrity. I didn't know what was telling me this or why I would care to protect my honor; but I listened to my instincts and fallowed that little voice in my head and didn't lie.
