Chapter 12: The Trial

The light from the window flowed onto my eyelids. The warmth of it caused me to flutter my eyelids and slowly open them. I rested my gaze on the space beside the window. I could see tiny dust particles in the ray of sun that had awoken me.

I could clearly see Hanna walk in from our shared bathroom. She was already dressed and ready for today's activities. She continued on to my still packed belongings and rummaged through my cloths. She then pulled out a green dress (above in picture) and laid it gently on the bed.

"Mom, it's time to get up." She said.

I threw the blanket off me and sat up. The dress Hanna laid out for me almost fell off the bed but she caught it. She lightly laughed after setting it laying it back down.

"My bad..." I giggled.

I had gotten dressed and fixed my hair. What was I gonna do today? I have no idea if I should help with chores or if I just stay in my room. Am I actually allowed to go about the nearby towns? I would have to ask the commander.

I guess I could start with breakfast, I am hungry. I opened the door and walked into the hallway. I almost didn't notice my royal guard Richard sitting in a chair beside my door.

"Good Morning Princess!" He cheerfully said. He saluted and stood up from him chair.

"I have news from Lance Corporal Levi Ackerman." I gave him approval to continue, "You are to be attending the trial of Jack Whitehill."

A flash of memories ran through my head. They flowed like a river, capturing every moment with him.

"Am I allowed to not go?" I asked.

"No, your presence is required." He replied.

Hanna walked out, done with her hair. "I heard everything. Can I go?" She asked.

"No." I haft yelled.

"Well, what will I do all day?" She asked. I suddenly had an idea.

"Jean!" I caught his attention, "Can you do me a huge favor?"

He turned around and stopped brushing his horse. "Sure. What is it?"

"I need you to watch Hanna for me! Please! I have to go to a trial, and younger kids aren't allowed." I pleaded.

"Sure. Where's she at?" Jean asked.

"Our room. Ask around, you'll find it. Thank you!" And with that, I was off.

Later on, Richard took me to a carriage that would take me to the trial. It was actually very cozy in here. I could almost fall back asleep. I got a little bored just sitting there, so I started to clasp my fingers together and twirl my thumbs in a circular motion.

The time passed by fast and the carriage door was swing open. It even scared me a little. "Good Morning."
Levi said in a monotone voice. He stepped into the carriage and sat down across from me. He wasn't even wearing his uniform.

"Why are you coming?" I asked.

"I said I would protect you, didn't I?" He said.

I blushed a little, "Yes..."

"And Eren is co-" he was cut off.

The carriage door swung open once more to reveal Eren. "Morning!"

We arrived at the courthouse. Richard took us all inside and we were seated to where we could see everything. In the crowd of people watching, I saw Armin and Mikasa. I had no idea they were here. Maybe they came because Eren did.

After everyone sat down and got quiet, the judge began. "We are here today to determine the justice of Jack Whitehill. May the walls bring mercy on your soul."

The large doors swung open to reveal two MP escorting Jack to his seat. He had a smirk on his face like the disrespectful bastard he is. I tensed up a little. I know he couldn't get to me, but I still fear him.

Levi must've noticed because he put his left hand on my shoulder. On the other side, Eren was letting me squeeze his hand. I assumed Levi had told him what happened. Eren is considered a witness because he was the one to save me from that horrible place.

"What do you plead?" The judge asked him.

"Innocent." He was a liar. He knows exactly what he did. The judge said a few more words and called a witness to take the stand. A man from Jack's side took it. He began to run his mouth,

"Jack is innocent. We had been friends for years, he wouldn't do any of the such. In fact, he is married."

I actually recognized the guy, he picked up some things from Jack's house before. He was a good liar, but it wouldn't change anything.

Another witness was called, Eren stepped up. "Haven't you been here Before, boy?" The judge asked. Eren rolled his eyes. He took the stand:

"He is guilty of his crimes. I was the one to find the princess, in fact. She was tied to the bed post and was haft naked, starving, and near death."

The judge asked him to exit. He slammed a fist on the stand and came back to his seat. He put his ahead in his head. "I'm sorry." He said.

I gave him a side hug, "I know you tried."

After an hour of pointless arguing, the judge looked at me. "Let the princess take the stand."

I was about to give someone a piece of my mind. I walked down there and looked the judge in the eye. "Jack is Guilty of his crimes." I them proceeded to walk over to Jack. I didn't even care if I wasn't allowed near him while his hands are tied to that pole. I stood about 6ft away from his form.

"Remember me?" I asked.

I saw him smirk then quickly looked up at me. He suddenly had a bright expression. "It's an honor to meet you, princess." He said, and looked down.
He might have fooled the judge and everybody else. But he didn't fool me.

I looked at his right ear. It was missing a chunk of flesh at the top. It had completely healed and had no scar or anything. The memory came into my head.

I bite off part of it.

I remembered how it was bloody and I spit it out in disgust. He deserved it.
Now, I knew for sure it was him. It was defiantly Jack.

Not everyone believed his was guilty. But I have proof, inside me. And I will have to tell them to prove to the judge. Of course the survey corps know, but nobody else did. Well, here goes nothing.

"Are you proud of yourself?" I asked, "Because what you have done to me can't be forgotten. I will have to live with that."

"I didn't do shit to you. I've never even seen you before today. Do us all a favor, and go back to your luxury life." He spoke.

I looked to Erwin, as if asking permission to tell them. My lips made a flat line. He nodded and mouthed 'go ahead.'

"Well, I just thought you should know, but..." He made a confused look when I paused. I put my right hand over my abdomen,

"It's yours."
