Denny had been living with the Curtis' since that night. Dallas always came over, but he was always rude and obnoxious. Dallas didnt even treat her like his daughter. Just like she was any other annoying kid, but Denny wasnt. She was very sweet, but could have her devil moments.
Its not that Dallas didnt like Denny. He loved her. But he also didnt like her, especially because of her resemblence to Macy. He hated how her long blonde hair matched Macys exactly. He hated how her bluish green eyes matched Macys. He hated being reminded of her, knowing he could never have her again.
Soda had moved up in his job. He was now the manager, and got a higher pay. Steve still worked there with him. Pony was almost finished school, about to graduate at seventeen. Darry was still working but planning on taking night classes when Pony graduated. Two was out of school. I mean, his is twenty one now. Thens there is Denny.
She fits in with most. She is very close to Soda and Pony, especially Soda. He makes sure Denny is always happy and taken care of because he would do anything for Macy. Steve despised poor Macy because of his relationship with her mother. Darry tolerated her, but he wasnt a kid person. Pony loved her, he thought she was adorable. Two really liked playing with her.
Every single day, Denny deals with all the boys. But she doesnt know everything. No one told her that her dad is Dallas. It could make her very upset, especially with the way Dallas treated her. Well, thats how Soda put it. Denny would most likely cry like she secretly does when Dallas is an asshole towards her. This is something a three year old shouldnt have to deal with.
