Freelancers. The best of the best. We are the strongest soldiers out there. The training is hard though, I have been knocked unconscious more times than I can count, but Jed is always there for me. He is tall, and has black hair it's straight and falls to one side, he has gray eyes and slightly tanned skin. He is friendly and always knows what to say when I am feeling down but he's super protective, like a brother. His codename is Washington. I awoke from this knock out with a pounding head, looking around the infirmary I saw Wash sleeping at the foot of my bed... again.
"Wash! wake up!" I whisper-yelled. He looked at me wearing his armor. I smiled indicating that I was perfectly fine.
"You OK?" he asked worry evident in his voice.
"I'm fine" I say, "what happened?"
"Carolina is what happened," he says helping me sit up "she thought it would be fun to beat you senseless, luckily Maine and North were around to help you out".
I remember now, Carolina had charged me suddenly in the locker room. She seemed more ruthless than usual that day. I threw a few punches until I was knocked on one of the benches and I blacked out.
"Az? you paying attention?" Wash asks me, I nod "anyway North and Maine found you two just in time, she was pounding your face in" I shrugged as I began walking towards the locker room eager to back into my armor, I was missing the feel of it, as we got into the locker room I felt all eyes on my, Wash stayed close protectively, he's like an older brother. I put on my armor, it was M VI black with ocean blue stripes, very similar to Wash's. I put on my helmet, my short brown hair being pushed back. We walked into the training room, I looked around seeing North and South they were loading their paintball guns.
"Wash" I whisper "are we going up against them?" he chuckles slightly at my question.
"No the four of us are going against a new recruit" he answers.
"Who is it?" I ask.
"Texas" he answers yet again as I load my paintball gun I look for a good hiding place, I'd seen this girl fight before.
I heard F.I.L.LS. call out round one. The whole time I was wondering why Texas was fighting North and South and Wash and I. It seemed unfair but we went along with it. I saw Wash and South charge Agent Texas, she rolls backwards away from them. I take that as my cue to go up high and help North from above, I shot at her whilst running as to make myself a harder target. I jumped down rolling as I hit the floor, I began sparring with this woman in front of me. We fought hand to hand. Dodging each other's punches and kicks, I saw North aim his gun he fired shooting her square in the back. The round ended Texas and I stared at each other. I extended my hand.
"Good fight" I say my hand extended for a shake, she stares at my hand then hesitantly shakes it. Wash calls me over and I follow him.
"Az!" I hear someone call my name, I turn seeing C.T.
"Yeah?" I ask as Wash walks on ahead of us.
"The director wants you in his office" she tells me, I groan... loudly.
"I don't wanna go" I say whining as Wash comes back.
"You have to" C.T. tells me as she drags me towards the office. Wash follows.
"Az don't worry, it's probably nothing bad" he tells me "I'll be waiting here for you".
I walk into the office seeing the director, he smiles warmly at me gesturing for me to remove my helmet, I did as told. He told me something I thought I'd never have to hear. My heart dropped to my feet and my eyes filled with anger. He gave me a paper with the name of the place written on it, he saluted me. I walked out my helmet on, I ignored Wash as I walked back to my room. I began packing all my stuff as Wash came in.
"Az?" he says concern in his voice.
"Amanda" I correct him.
"Amanda... what's wrong?" he asks as I am putting a group picture of him, North, South, and me in the bag.
"Why are you packing everything?"
I ignore him not wanting to say.
"Az" he says again.
"I'm being transferred" I say sadly tears in my eyes and in my voice.
"Transferred" he says "to where?!"
"Some box canyon in the middle of nowhere"
He hugs me holding me close to him.
"They're separating the duo aren't they" he asks
"Yep I guess the Dakotas are all they need" we stand there holding each other.
"Jed..." I say "I don't want to leave"
"I know I don't want you to leave" he says.
I walk over to the planes he was walking with me. We hugged and he placed a box in my hand it was small.
Sitting I opened the box there was a note reading:
Amanda, you know I will find you, and I will make sure our duo is reunited I promise you that. And no matter what, no matter how far we are apart I will always be your brother even if we aren't related.
Love you
Jedidiah aka WashI see a necklace it had a bullet on it I could tell it was from Wash's gun, I smiled as I put it around my neck.
"Oh Jed..." I whisper to myself "we will meet again" I look down at the paper with my new location on it and read it.
Agent Arizona,
We would like to inform you that you are to be transferred to Blood Gulch outpost Alpha. You are to be their commanding officer we expect them to be in tip top shape when we send the trainees to work on simulations.
Best regards.
The Director
I grumble to myself as the ride continues, not knowing what to expect at this "Blood Gulch" place, I close my eyes deciding to get some shut eye expecting a headache when I get there.Falling through the air I see the ground coming closer and closer, I tuck my knees and roll when I land looking towards for Outpost Alpha. Finding a base nearby I walk towards it. Blue lighting adorns it. I walk inside my voice filter on, it seems it had turned on when I landed. I shrugged deciding to leave it on for the time, just to get to know these people. I knocked the on the door, hearing someone running towards it, I heard a crash a couple of people saying ow and then the door opened, revealing a man without his armor on. He was taller and lankier than me, he had brown hair and green eyes, olive toned skin and a small goatee.
"Hi I'm Church can I help you?" he asks.
"I am Agent Arizona your new commanding officer" I say walking in, I see two men on the floor both not in their uniforms. One has dark brown hair and eyes to match, he has darker skin and is roughly about five foot six. The other has blonde hair and bright blue eyes his skin is pale and he is about six foot one. I stare at them.
"Both of you sit up now" I say my voice filter making me sound like a young man.
"Damn" says the one known as Churrch "you're gonna whip us into shape"
"Yes sir" says the darker skinned one pushing the blonde one off of him.
"Yes mister Arizona sir!" says the blonde.
"Names" I order simply wanting to know what they are called.
"I am Tucker sir" says the darker skinned one.
"And I am Michael J Caboose and I hate babies" says the blonde. I walk around the base deciding to take off my helmet. Revealing that I am indeed a woman.
"Men," I say my voice back to normal "I am Freelancer Arizona, and I am here to make you be real soldiers". I take a look around the base, it's filthy. "We will start by cleaning the whole base" I command "your base reflects your army and I do not want to be known as the commander of the filthiest and laziest army, do you understand?"
"Yes" the three say in unison.
"Yes what?" I ask.
"Yes Sir!" they correct themselves, this was gonna be fun. They began to clean I watched them my eyes narrowed like those of a hawk waiting for someone to make a mistake.
Putting my things away in my room. I put my pictures on the table nearby, the picture of Wash and I at the carnival facing my bed. A smile graces my face as I stare at it. That was a good day, I won a giant stuffed bear, and ate five cotton candies. North puked on a ride and Wash and I went through the haunted house.
"So she does smile" I hear a voice say, I turn seeing Tucker. I shrug my shoulders putting a picture I had of Wash and North shooting each other with water guns. I then put another of South and I, we were laughing about something.
"Your boyfriend?" asks Tucker picking up a picture of Wash and I.
"No" I say "my brother" he puts it down looking at all the photos.
"There's a bunch of you two" he says.
"Wow I didn't know that!" I say sarcastically.
"Rude" he replies. I glare at him making him leave my room. I then close and lock the door, force of habit I guess. I lay in my bed deciding to go to sleep I would need it if we were going to start training the next day.
