Change My Name...?!

I was staring at my laptop screen when I heard the door to the cabin open. I was facing the wall, so I couldn't see who it was, and I didn't look up. If they wanted me to know they were there, they'd tell me.

All of a sudden, hands clamped over my eyes, interrupting my virtual Monopoly game. A deep, gruff voice, obviously just a disguise, spoke. "Guess who?"

I sighed and pretended to think. "Um...Batman?"

"Correct!" The person answered, letting go of my head.

I chuckled. "Morning, Seaweed Brain."

"Good morning, Wise Girl. Where are the other Athena kids?"

I spun around in my new swivel chair to face him. "The Ares kids challenged us to a one-cabin-on-one-cabin game of Capture the Flag. I decided not to play this time. I haven't been feeling well."

Percy knelt down and hugged me. "Hope you feel better."

I smiled as he stood up. He dragged a chair over to the desk and sat down beside me. "So, I've been thinking..."

"Did you hurt yourself?" I interrupted.

He fake glared at me before continuing. "I've been thinking...your last name really doesn't go with your first name. You should change it."

I was confused. "Change my last name? Why? What's wrong with my name?"

He shrugged. "I don't know, it just doesn't sound right with your first name. Annabeth Chase. Nah, you should change it."

"To what?"

Percy took the mouse from my hand and opened a new tab on my laptop. He typed in last names that sound good with annabeth and clicked on the first link that came up. A list came up, with names that were linked to their origins and histories. Percy turned my chair around and scrolled through the names, occasionally clicking and asking my opinion on a name. Every name he said, I declined. What was his deal? Why did he want me to change my name?

He clicked the mouse, and I could see a smile forming on his face out of the corner of my eye. He suddenly jumped up, said, "How about this one?" and casually walked out of the cabin.

I looked after him suspiciously before turning to the screen. When I saw what name he had clicked on, I gasped. Percy wanted me to change my last name...to Jackson.

"PERCY!" I called. "DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU CLICKED? DID YOU JUST PROPOSE TO ME? GET BACK HERE, SEAWEED BRAIN!"

I ran after him and stood in front of him. I looked him in the eyes and found the answer I needed. I smiled and leaned in closer. "Yes."
