"I tell you, white shirt suits no one better than him." Shreya said, a few days later when we met for lunch. Gaurav was there having a coffee.
"Stop ogling girl, he is going to come here otherwise." Maya said out loud the same thoughts I had.
"I will not. You guys are always around him, these are the rare chances I get. Don't you dare take that away from me," She said in a dramatic way attracting the attention of most of the people in there, Gaurav included.
"Hi ladies," He said coming to our table.
Neha and Maya said a simple 'hi' while I just nodded. Shreya couldn't even open her mouth.
"So, you all usually have lunch together?"
"Yeah, actually it was just Maya and I, then Shreya joined last year and Kavya a few days back." Neha explained.
"Good. It is nice to know you all are getting along fine. And you Kavya, are you liking it here?"
"Oh yes, absolutely."
"Great then, I will see you all later."
"I can't believe he talked to us." Shreya said as soon as he left.
"Speak for yourself Shreya; we talk to him every day. And you didn't even talk to him, you just stared." Maya pointed out.
"Sorry to disturb you again," We heard Gaurav speak and turned to face him.
"Kavya I want you to accompany me to the court in an hour. I think it is time for you to do so."
"Sure." Even as I said that, I was shocked. In all honesty, I didn't think I would be going t court anytime soon.
"You get to go to court with him. This is partiality." Shreya said.
"What partiality are you talking about, who here has a degree in law? Just me, isn't it?
"Still, you get to go with him. Tell me you are not excited."
"Oh I am excited."
"See. Point made." Shreya said with a smug smile.
"Oh no dear, you ever gave me a chance to explain myself. I am excited because I get to go to court, not because I get to go with him."
"Yeah, we agree you are the only lawyer in this table and we are not qualified enough to argue with you. You win Kavya, now we have to go." Maya said.
"You ready to go?" Gaurav asked me a few minutes later. I was in my cabin, reading the file he had handed me earlier. We were appearing for the wife in a divorce case.
"Yeah, I am." I said and took the file with me.
As I entered the court, memories flooded back to me. I had been in the same court once before, but not as a lawyer. The judge was the same.
"Are you sure there is no way you two can make this marriage work?" The judge turned to me.
"The differences between us have become so irreconcilable. I don't think we can make this work anymore."
"We have made our choices, for the best and this is one of them." Amit spoke
"After looking at the situation and since there is no chances of this marriage working, this court hereby grants you divorce."
"Kavya, everything ok?" Gaurav asked me, tapping my shoulder.
"Yes." I was distracted for a bit and hadn't heard what he asked me.
