Pure panic washed over Eleanor as she left Amelia's office for the day. It was Amelia who suggested that Eleanor leave early, especially after Umbridge started the wild claims that someone had purposely spilt the hot tea all down the woman's front. Amelia told Umbridge that she was being ridiculous and had burned herself by not holding onto her teacup properly, but Eleanor knew what she had witnessed.
She had seen her jumper slide back into her bag, the same bag that she was currently holding close to her body. She told herself to go home, in hopes of dealing with it in private, however, it seemed her subconscious had a different plan as she found herself arriving at the Diggory Household.
Anne had been in the middle of dusting in the sitting room, swishing her wand about when she was startled by Eleanor arriving in the fireplace.
"Eleanor!" she gasped, clutching her hand to the front of her shirt. "Merlin's beard, child, you scared me! Cedric didn't mention that you were coming over. Are you alright? You look a bit pale."
"Sorry, Mrs Diggory, I didn't mean to startle you, but I...I just got off my first day at my internship and I wanted to talk to Cedric. I should have sent an owl, but I was too excited," Eleanor quickly lied, "is Cedric home?"
"Oh yes, of course, he's upstairs in his room resting," Anne told her, gesturing towards the staircase, "you know where it is."
With a nod and a smile, Eleanor excused herself before heading up the stairs to her best friend's room, she quickly knocked her knuckles against the door and waited for several seconds before she heard the sound of footsteps approaching. The door swung open with Cedric leaning his head back and with a heavy sigh.
"For the last time, Mum, I'm fine. Really, I- Ellie?! What are you doing here?"
Not waiting for a second longer, Eleanor pushed Cedric back into his bedroom and closed the door behind them. She quickly threw her bag onto Cedric's bed and pulled out her wand, pointing it directly at her belongings. Cedric had no choice but to stand in complete bewilderment as Eleanor had yet to even greet him before barging into his room.
"Ellie," Cedric whispered, reaching his hand out and gently placing it on her shoulder, "what are you doing? What's wrong?"
"My jumper is alive, Queenie!"
For a moment, Cedric said nothing, but the look on his face said every thought that was running through his mind. He reached out slowly and pushed for Eleanor to lower her wand and then turned her around to face him. Upon seeing his face, Eleanor placed her free hand over her eyes and groaned.
"Oh, I know it sounds mad, but you have to believe me, Queenie!"
"I see that in moments of chaos, that nickname still sticks," Cedric scoffed under his breath before he shook his head and turned his focus back to Eleanor. "Alright, walk me through everything, Ellie. What happened?"
