AN:

So. December is here, NaNoWriMo is over, and I won! By 25 words, but whatever, it was one hell of  a battle. Sorry for not updating, but really, NaNoWriMo just left me dumb. So, to make it up to you guys, I wrote a kind of long chapter. Enjoy!

PS: I was looking through the demographics for The Rebel and found out I have some readers across the world! Literally! Australia, Indonesia, Philippines... Guys it blows my mind! So hi from Central America and hope you are all having a wonderful day!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following days Skander and Adeen barely talked. When they met, they usually did it in Adeen's room, where they lied on her bed and stared at her ceiling in silence. The only sign they were aware of each other their intertwined hands. Adeen began to talk more, although she only did so to June and Jasper, who seemed to like each other more with each passing second.
One afternoon, Skander and Adeen were lying side by side, as usual, when he turned to her.
"You never told me. About your mother."
Adeen smiled sadly. "I took the childish approach. As if not talking about her made her go away."
She turned to him. His lips were slightly parted, and she shuddered when she remembered them on her.
"I have made some plans."
"For what?"
"I'm organizing a ball, an excuse really, to bring the families here. All of them."
Adeen widened her eyes. "You're kidding me."
"No. In a few days, Liz and your mom will be here."
Adeen grinned and threw her arms around his neck. He sighed and they stayed for that for a few seconds. Skander pulled back and for a second his eyes traveled to Adeen's lips. He began to lean in, and Adeen couldn't move. He was inches away from her, Adeen had closed her eyes and she was craving him.
And Skander's phone rang.
He pulled back and looked at the screen. Adeen tried not to show her disappointment.
"I'm sorry. It's important."
He said and Adeen shook her head.
"Go, Prince Skander."
He nodded, smiled slightly and stood up. He straightened his hair and then went out her room. Adeen stared at the door, her fingers absentmindedly stroking the scar on her right shoulder, the one Skander had kissed first in the library.
Adeen couldn't stop moving as they waited in front of the gigantic gates. She remembered the last time she had stared at them and turned to June, snapping out of the memory.
"What time is it?"
"I swear, Adeen, time won't magically speed up just because you glance at the clock every second." Adeen still stared at her. June sighed. "Nine fifty seven. They always follow the schedule, and it said they'd be here at ten. So why don't we just wait three minutes?"
"Right." Adeen turned to look at the gates again.
Her eyes caught Skander's across the room and he smiled. Adeen smiled back.
"I see you made it up to Skander." June teased her. "Have you guys kissed again?"
Adeen turned to her friend. "Do you even try to get him, June? Or are you too focused on Jasper?"
