Two weeks had passed and Dayna was informed that she would be starting school on Monday. Most teenage girls would hate this, having to start school in the middle of the year when you knew absolutely no one but Dayna was different. Although her family saw her as shy and quiet that wasn't the exact truth.
Back in school Dayna was popular, confident... She had every guy and girl falling at her feet. She was confident sexy, talented.. At school she was a star.. She would let everyone else see that.
"Dayna" the girl was daydreaming. Herself and Diana were on a 'Back to school' shopping trip.
"Mmm?" She looked at her mother who had an amused expression "your school? The old one write it down on the form" she directed to the piece of paper Diana had placed in her lap at the start of the journey.
"Oh right" she mumbled and picked up the paper. She quickly jotted down the name and address and gave it back to Diana.
They were stopped in traffic when Diana picked up the piece of paper her eyes widening as she frowned in confusion.
"Dayna you went to Santa Barbara School of Performing Arts?" She stared in astonishment.
Dayna sighed. She knew that her parents would find out sooner or later. She didn't want to tell them about her old school because then they'd insist on her attending the same type of school and she couldn't take that much money from them.
"I got a full scholarship" she smiled shyly.
"Why didn't you tell us?" She asked confused "a scholarship? At what age?" She was full of questions, curious about my life.
"5"
Diana frowned "5 what?" She asked and Dayna laughed.
"I was 5 when I got my scholarship" she said seriously causing Diana's mouth to drop.
"W-what? You were 5? How? What did you get a scholarship for?" She was in shock as the car began to move again.
Dayna smiled remembering all the times she'd danced and played piano with her father. He thought her everything she knew.
"For Piano and Ballet. I started learning when I was two and by the time I was five I'd won over 260 completions. I got my scholarship and began school there. When my father died my mother wanted me to leave but I wouldn't."
Diana sighed breathing out a heavy breath "Dayna you realise I can't let you go to a normal school. You're clearly very talented and smart. What's your GPA?" She asked interested.
Dayna chuckled and gave a small smile "uh its 5.0"
Diana nearly slapped hard on the breaks as they came to another stop sign "Dayna 5.0 is that even possible?" She stared in complete shock
"I was in all AP classes. My father was a maths,History and Chemistry professor and Pianist. My mother an English and Dance teacher. They thought me from a very young age" she mumbled.
"Dayna.. I don't understand.. What happened?" She looked at Dayna in desperation. The story of why she left home was something Dayna was yet to tell and she knew that it was frustrating for her mother.
Diana tried, she tried to be patient knowing Dayna would tell her in time but it was in moments like this when she saw all the potential that Dayna had yet she was hurting so deeply and it wasn't letting her be the best version of her.
"My father and sister died, my mother changed... Things changed" she mumbled without even realising.
Diana wouldn't push she knew that Dayna showed herself in little bits.. This was all she would get for now.
