AN: Here I ammmm
I have exams right now but I updated for you all, so you better be thankful haha.
Nonono, but this is more of a filler chapter, I'm sorry. Drama is coming the next chapter, and smut (don't ask me how or why, it just is)
Niall heard the door slam softly when Harry walked out, leaving him with nothing more than dried tears on his cheek and a story to comprehend.
It was all just too much. Gemma pregnant. Nick. Their youth. The cheating.
Niall's youth had been nothing special, and he had always thought that Harry's had been just the same. Niall had grown up with his parents. They divorced, sure, but it didn't really have anything to do with him, so they left him out of it.
But no. When Niall had been studying for his exams, Harry had been fooling around with the guy that had made his sister pregnant.
What even?
Niall didn't know what to do at all. Was he supposed to just understand this? Understand that Harry had cheated on a woman, had told a father to leave his wife, which had caused a baby not to be born. And then, when he had a new blond boyfriend, he went and cheated for Nick once again.
Once a cheater always a cheater, his mind said, but Niall did not want to believe it. HHarry wasn't like that. He wasn't like the old men that were always in 'business meetings', only to come home and have sex with a wife that had started ignoring the lovebites of another's mouth on her husband's chest, purely because she couldn't explain the ones on her breasts.
Harry was not that kind of man. Niall was sure of that.
But then again, he had been sure Harry was a loving boyfriend to, and look where that brought him. On a balcony in the freezing could with tears and a running mind.
Great place, really.
He remembered the conversation with his mother about his father cheating on her.
'That's just the way men are, darling. They cheat on you with someone better, someone prettier. They steal all the love you give them, and give it to someone else. It's sad really. But he can't steal my pride. I have my pride, and he has got her. Fair share.'
Niall had stared at her.
'But I'm a man, too, momma.'
His mother had stared down upon him softly.
'But you're a good one, baby. A nice one. The good ones are the one who get hurt, not the ones who hurt.'
'Will someone hurt me, momma?'
'I don't know, baby. I sure hope not. But all we can do is hope. Hope and hope and hope. And it's never enough.'
Never enough. He could never be enough.
He had tried to be, tried his best, but he just couldn't be what other people wanted him to be. He couldn't be the perfect son for his parents, he couldn't be a good student, he couldn't be a good boyfriend.
People don't cheat because they're happy with their relationship. They cheat because something is missing. Harry had cheated on him because Nick could give him something Niall couldn't.
Niall should just walk away from the relationship. He had to ignore his phone ringing desperately when Harry called him, he had to ignore the texts saying he was sorry.
But he wasn't strong enough to do so. And I mean, if Harry was really sorry, they could work this out, right?
Of course, staying in a toxic relationship is the ultimate way to hurt yourself, and he knew that. And maybe, that said a lot more about him than about Harry.
