Chapter seven:
(Harmony)
I felt something nudge my shoulder lightly, moaning I rolled over and buried my head in the pillows. I felt something poke me in the ribs. “Wakey, wakey sunshine” A silky male voice fluttered through my head. I jolted alert straight way, my heart racing a million miles per hour. I sat up but didn’t see anything. I must be imagining things. I thought to myself. “Oh you wish honey pie, now turn around”. I turned so fast I think I got whiplash. “You! What are you doing here?!” I asked the tall twenty something year old man that was sitting on the bed behind me.
He was sitting with his back against the wall, one of his legs stretched out, the other bent at the knee, while he lent an elbow on it. The strange thing was that, where I had been sleeping there was only 10 centimetres between me and the wall; I really don’t know how he managed to fit his tall slim frame onto my single bed, let alone between me and the wall. “I told you I’d find you again” he said simply.
He had long black hair that stopped just past his shoulders, a few strands fell into his bright almost white blue eyes. His pupils were so small they almost looked like they weren’t there. He had a slender face with very high cheekbones, and a straight nose that was set above a pair of lips that settled into a natural smirk. He was very tall and slim but not overly muscular, although I could feel power radiating off him. I didn’t actually know what he was; I just knew he wasn’t human.
“Who are you?” I asked cautiously. He flashed me a smile. “Amrit, it means ‘the immortal one’ in Sanskrit, although I have many other names, Ambrose is one, but I like Amrit the best”. I got off the bed and backed away. “What are you?” I asked as I watched him gracefully get off my bad and make his way toward me, I backed away until my back hit the wall. He brushed a strand of my golden hair away from my face. “Didn’t I already give it away?” he said staring into my eyes. “Are you saying your immortal?” I asked back. He chuckled lightly “Yes I am, now tell me little one, what are you?”
I tried to move to the right, but he placed an arm on either side of my waist, preventing me from moving. “Now there’s no need to run away, I won’t hurt you” he whispered into my ear. He continued “I would assume that you were an angel, am I correct?” he asked. I snorted in an unladylike manner. “Me an angel? You have to be kidding me, heck no I just have wings” I laughed at him “An angel really?”
His face turned from one of smugness, to one of surprize. “You’re really not an angel?” he asked confused. I laughed again “No I’m a genetic freak, an experiment gone wrong, I don’t know, whatever you want to call it, I’m not an angel though”. His eyebrow drew together.
“Okay, well uh um…” he trailed off and let go of me. “What did you need an angel for anyway, almighty immortal?” I asked taking the micky out of him. He glared at me “It’s really none of your business now, but alas I shall tell you anyway, I needed a few drops of angel’s blood for a ritual” I gave him a look as if to say, did you take your meds this morning? He went and sat down on my bed.
“Okay…” I said dragging it out. He glared at me again. “If you hadn’t forgotten I can still read your mind, and no I am not crazy” he said bitterly. I had the decency to blush slightly. “Sorry” I mumbled and plopped down beside him. He turned towards me, and stared into my eyes. “It’s really quite fascinating watching your eyes change colour with your emotions” he stated. I looked away from his eyes, scanning the things around the small room. “I’ve worked out a few, you’re eyes are gold when you’re scared, blue when your surprized, I think brown is suspicious… and I haven’t really seen a lot of other emotions yet so yeah”. I turned and stared at him amazed, how the heck did he work that out? I asked myself. “It helps to be able to rifle through your mind” he said cheekily in my mind.
