Weeks flew by and we were about to do our Nashville show. Meaning Zayn and I were on our way to meet up with my Grandmother. Meaning Zayn and I have been dating for three months and that my new song was going to be released tomorrow night just after I performed it live on stage. I nervously played with my hair, needing to do something to get my mind off the next day.

I skipped downstairs, knowing exactly what I needed. A couple of weeks ago I had bleached my hair blonde. Leaving it because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, just knowing that the dark red I had in wasn’t what I wanted. I plopped down on top of Niall.

“Where is Becs?” I asked, noticing that the girl I was looking for was missing.

“Skyping Sara!” Hails giggled. Becs had started dating the sound tech from the interview we had gone to and frequently talked with her. What Becs didn’t know is that Hails and I had hired her for the European leg of tour and that she would be seeing her soon. Nashville was our last show in the U.S. so we were heading to England in just a few days.

“I need her to do my haiiiirrrrr” I whined, poking Niall’s sides causing him to giggle.

“Hey babe.” Zayn said, pulling me off Niall and into his lap. I giggled, curling into him. I was glad that Zayn was comfortable enough with me around his friends and didn’t care how close Niall and I had gotten. “What are you doing to your hair this time?”

“More of an orange red. And shorter. I’m bored. Blond is boring.” I sighed.

     “Oh god.” Hails joked.

“This is the sixth different hairstyle you’ve had on this tour,” Harry commented.

“Trust me that’s nothing.” Becs said, entering the lounge. “Let’s do it then.”

I cheered and followed her to the bathroom. Louis followed, muttering something about Skyping El. Niall joined us in the cramped bathroom, sitting on the sink as Becs hacked away at my hair. Once we finally got the dye in my hair I plopped down in Zayn’s lap with a shower cap over the dye.

“Oh the smells of hair dye.” Zayn joked. I poked him, focusing on the tv show that the boys had turned on.

“Is he in the garbage?” I asked, wrinkling my nose.

     “America’s Dirtiest Jobs.” Liam grunted.

“COD?” I asked, hoping we could turn off the gross scene in front of me. Cheers went up and we proceeded to have a COD tournament.

“And this, Buzznet, is what we do when we are bored out of our minds.” Becs said, aiming her camera at us. Flipping the camera towards her she said, “It’s time to wash out Rain’s hair dye. Stay tuned for an update as to what she has done this time.” I laughed and flipped off the camera, closing the door behind me as I stuck my head in the sink to wash the dye out so it didn’t turn too red. I walked out and Hails made a fake trumpeting sound. I posed, letting Becs get some shots for Buzznet before she turned the camera off.

“Bed time!” I chanted, pecking Zayn’s lips before I crawled into bed to fret over Zayn meeting my grandma all night. I hadn’t lain there long when Zayn slid in with me. “What are you doing?”

“You’re nervous.” He whispered. “Don’t be. It’ll be fine. I love you.”

I curled up against him, needing his warmth. “Just please don’t take anything she says personally. Just ignore it. Don’t leave me.” I whimpered.

“I’m in for the long haul.” He whispered, his breath caressing my ear.

The next morning we woke up and got ready in nervous silence. Niall came up to sit with me and calm me down while Zayn Skyped with his family.

“It’s not going to change anything either way.” Niall soothed.

I sighed, “I know. But if she just approved for once of something I’ve chosen in my life I would be so happy. Every little girl wants her mom’s approval and I can’t have mine. But I can still strive for her mom’s approval.”

“Your mum would be proud.” Niall said, squeezing my hand, wrapping himself around me and rocking me.

“You are going to be such a good dad.” I laughed, burying my face in his chest.

“I’ve seen you with Lux! You’re going to be the best mom. I can’t wait until you and Zayn have kids. Get on that. I want to be an uncle.”

“Funny. You know that’s not going to happen soon.” I laughed, sticking my tongue out. “I wrote him a song.”

     “Zayn?”

“Yea. I froze when he said he loved me. I haven’t ever said those words. I just don’t know how to or how I’m suppose to feel when I do. I’m singing it tonight.” I whispered.

“He’ll love it.” Niall smiled. “Now go get lover boy and get going. You’re going to be late.” I pulled myself up and made my way downstairs where Zayn was still talking with his mom. I popped up next to him, not wanting to interrupt his time but really needing to leave.

“Mum, this is Rain.” Zayn smiled, pulling me into the view of the camera.

     “Hi!” I said nervously smiling.

“Hello dear! I’ve heard so much about you.” She smiled.

“I’ve heard so much about you also! You have got to tell me some of those embarrassing childhood stories. I need something to hold over Zayn.” I said smiling at Zayn. He pecked my lips before telling him mom that we had to go, that we were meeting my Grandma.

“Well goodbye dear. I can’t wait to meet you in person!” She said, logging off.

And suddenly it was just Zayn and I, about to go see my grandmother…
