Killua was fiddling with a brown string hanging from the faux leather chair by (Y/n)'s hospital bed. He had spent two days listening to the beep of her heart monitor, hoping his companion would wake up. The Doctor said she put up a tremendous fight, but expended to much nen. That, along with all the injuries (Y/n) had sustained, it was possible she woudn't wake up. Killua's stomach lurched and his heart ached at the thought of losing the ( insert type here; kuudere, tsundere, etc.) girl in front of him. Not seeing her shiny (h/c) sway with her good as she walked.
Killua kept his head down when Gon walked into the bland hospital room. Part of the assassin was afraid his best friend would see his weakness, and another part of him hoped that Gon would. Killua's white locks barely hid the tears threatening to spill for two days now. She was just a girl he knew, right? Wrong. (Y/n) was everything to the stubborn ex- assassin. Too bad it took him so long to realize it. Her amazing personality, the smell of her shampoo, her smile. Oh that beautiful smile! How he longed to hear her laugh.
The past two days had given the boy some prospective on what (Y/n) really meant to him, and now she may slip right out of his grasp. Killua's pale hands cluched the arms of the brown chair, his nails piercing the fake hide. Gon moved over to his friend, sensing his obvious distress at the situation. Not knowing what else to do, the green- clothed boy wrapped his arms around Killua's shoulders.
That was it, Killua lost it. The tears slowly started to fall, then they quickened to a full blown river. (Y/n) could die. Leave him forever. No. It was unacceptable. The steady beep filling the room started to slow, only by a millisecond, but Killua noticed nevertheless.
Gon let go, feeling the boy in his embrace tense. Killua stood up and stared at (Y/n)'s blank face, his eyes swirling with untold emotions. The snowy haired ex-assassin knelt by the crappy hospital bed, and put his lips right next to the wounded girl's ear.
"I love you." Killua whispered, bringing his head down on (Y/n)'s shoulder. He looked so defeated, as he silently let the tears drop on her shoulder. She smelled the same, even laying on that hospital bed, cords strung across her body.
"Kil, don't.... Cry." (Y/n) choked out, the words hoarse as they slipped up her dry throat. "I.... Love..." Her heart rate was steadily becoming slower. Beep... Beep.... Beep..... Beep......
"(Y/n)!" The now vulnerable assassing sniffled.
"Kil...lua. I loved... Getting to know you and Gon... I wouldn't trade it for... the world." Her words were slow and slightly slurred. "I'vd heard... That love is... Watching someone close... Die."
"Don't say that!" Killua scolded. "You'll be fine, and we can go on more adventures, and..."
A soft tear slid down the (h/c) haired girl's face. "Goodbye, thanks for... Being my best friends..." (Y/n) flat lined, and nurses started running into the room. Killua and Gon had to be dragged out of the room, both of them parylized with shock.
The two boys would never forget the marvelous girl that slipped in and out of their lives in a heart beat, and Killua would always hold (Y/n) in special place in his heart. She would always be with them, in their memories.*************
And now you guys all hate me. Sorry, but I had to have one story that ended sadly. (T-T It probably didn't help that I was listening to What Sarah Said by Death Cab for Cutie and Forever and Always Parachute....) Thank you for reading, voting, and commenting!
