I'll always remember that night. I was lying around reading and Sirius was out doing something for the Order of the Pheonix. Oh, yes we both were in that, too. He rushed into the house and ran into the room I was in.

"We have to go, the Potters are in danger. Voldemort's on his way," That was all I needed to hear. I sprang up and started for the door.

"I'll apparate over there to warn them, you take your motorbike just in case," I yelled behind me. I hoped I could apparate while I was running. BAM! I was a few houses away from Lily and James's. A little off but now was not the time to think about that. I sprinted off toward the house.

But then I spotted someone doing the same. Deciding that it was a deatheater I took action thanking God that he hadn't seen me.

"Stupefy," I yelled and he stopped in his tracks. I jogged over to see who it was. Sev! What was he doing here.

I unfroze him but blocked his path.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?" I screeched impatiently.

"Warning Lily. Move." Severus pulled out his wand threatingly. Suddenly a bang sounded from the house.

"New idea," I squeaked. "Let's both save her!" We both ran the rest of the way. We burst through the door and Severus struggled to get upstairs. On the stairs lay the dead body of James Potter. I kneeled next to him and checked his pulse in vain. Upstairs I heard Severus sobbing loudly so I kissed James's head and slowly creeped into Harry's nursery.

I pulled out my wand in self defense but put it away as I took in the scene. Sev was cradeling Lily in his arms crying. Little Harry was standing up in his crib, a gash on his forehead. No sign of Voldemort. Then I gasped as I realized what happened.

Voldemort came, killed James as he tried to give Lily and Harry time to escape. Then went up and killed Lily, and tried to kill Harry but Harry wasn't dead..... So Voldemort must be. It all fit together now. But before I could mull it over I heard heavy footsteps downstairs. It wasn't Sirius.

"We have to leave," I hissed to Sev. He wouldn't listen so I had to drag him into Harry's closet. I put my hand over his mouth as the footsteps grew louder until they were right outside the closet. I peeked through a crack and saw the huge build of Rubeus Hagrid as he picked up little Harry and walked out.

Outside I heard a roaring sound like an engine and knew Sirius had arrived. It stopped and in a few minutes started up again.

Sirius laid on our bed silently. He hadn't spoken in days. I pushed his hair out of his eyes and sat down next to him.

"I'm going to kill Peter," he muttered angrily as a tear rolled down his cheek.  We had buried Lily and James in a cemetery in Godrick's Hollow near their house. I had apparated to Dumbledore the day after the funeral and demanded that Harry stay with me and Sirius.

"Sirius and I are his godparents," I clenched my fists. "He should stay with us."

"But do you think he will be safe with you?" He replied calmly.

"You know who is dead. He will be safe,"

"I'm sorry but he will stay with his aunt and uncle until he is 17. I suggest you stay out of his life."

"And why's that?"

"Sirius, too. Until he needs you."

Sirius did hunt Peter down and almost killed him, but Peter outsmarted him and Sirius went to Azkaban. During his exile I stayed out of sight, away from Harry. That is until Sirius broke out of Azkaban and continued his hunt for Peter Pettigrew.
