Chapter 13
Pharâzindil's POV
Even in my unconscious state, I was distantly aware of my surroundings. As I floated between the worlds of Light and Dark, I could remember a faint memory of the Elven King bringing me back from the cusp of the darkness, only to awake briefly during his skirmish with an orc pack - and arriving at the Stronghold of the Elves, known as Rivendell in the common tongue.
At this point, the burning in my veins had been too much to bear and I gratefully surrendered to the pitch black of my conscience.
A faint murmuring awoke me; it compelled me to arise into the arms of the light...but I was tired. So very tired, and weary of this world.
"Pharâzindil," the mysterious voice called gently. "Return to us. Return to the light!"
But I couldn't find the energy to open my eyes...I couldn't do anything but listen to the voice coaxing me to awaken.
"Odulen anedraith angin, tolo Á tulë dan nan galad. I am here, come back from the shadow and return to the light." The voice - which I now disconcerted to be a man's voice - was growing insistent.
It was then that I experienced my life changing event - one that would set me on my path to fate.
Pharâzindil, another voice chimed in suddenly. That's strange, I thought drowsily. Sleep was so close...
Who is it? I wondered as I lay motionless still.
I am called many things, the lady's voice echoed softly. But to most, I am the Lady of light, Galadriel, she continued.
You must awaken, Pharâzindil! Only you can stop the darkness from rising, she urged.
I'm tired, I wearily replied. There is nothing left on middle Earth for me to cherish; my family is dead....
I could hear her sigh softly. Nay, my child. There are still two who would miss your presence- and a third if I am correct, she consoled me.
My true parents abandoned me in front of a human home...it cannot be them. And I know no one else who would care of my death, I countered.
At that moment, I somehow found the strength to open my eyes, and I gasped. The being in front of me could not possibly be human. In short, she was the most beautiful of anyone; rather, any elf (for pointed ears could be seen peeking out.)
She had a timeless face, neither young nor old, with the same eyes as I. But her eyes showed wisdom long beyond my years, and also kindness and...regret? I wondered. And then her identical blue eyes met mine, and I thought I was seeing a similar appearance to myself. But it could not be possible, I brushed it off.
To complete her regal look, long golden hair ran like a river from her veil, and a simple - but powerful - crown rested on her brow. A simple white dress with intricate designs flowed around her figure.
Who are you? I asked.
She ignored me.
There comes a time where the ultimate sacrifice must be made...she whispered sorrowfully. And the once the decision has been cast, it cannot be undone.
I was puzzled, to say the least. The Lady Galadriel, if that was her name was speaking in riddles.
You must be strong, my child. There are many trials ahead, both in love and in war. Trust the one who is protective of thee avoid the malevolent shadow who follows thee.
What do you mean, I asked. And why do you keep calling me your child?
Chuckling softly, she ignored my question. All will be revealed in due time. For now, open your eyes and-
The lady cut off abruptly, wariness lacing her features. A sudden stillness in the air could be felt, and for some reason, the sense of doom and that of wrath could be felt.
What's going on? I panicked. I could sense an evil nearing.
You must awaken now! the lady urgently said. Elrond can protect you from within his gates. He is coming!
Who? I asked. And what does he want from me?
She ignored me. Again.
He must never get your hands on your power - now go! The lady of light's voice grew powerful as she chanted strange elvish words that formed a barrier of some sort around me. At the same time, I could hear her voice in my head merging with the man's voice I had heard earlier.
"Odulen anedraith angin, tolo Á tulë dan nan galad!"
A strange light grew out of the shadow and moved closer and closer until I could reach it, forcibly pulling me back into the world of the living.
Wait! I called back into the darkness. Why did you seek me out?
"Come to Lorien..." Her voiced whispered faintly. All shall be answered.
I turned to ask another question, but the glowing image of the mysterious lady was no longer there, and all I could see was an endless path that would lead the shadow.
All that remained was the faint whispering.
"Come to Lorien..."
And with that, I awoke.
