A FEW YEARS LATER Dylan's POV

As Dylan placed Alice into bed he placed  his hand on her cheek and kissed the top of her head. Like he did most nights, she had a habit of falling asleep in different parts of the castle. Partially because she loved to push herself when training with her Uncles and cousins, trying to always stay as strong as she possibly could. Or she just fell asleep on me, making sure that I was the one who got her to bed.

Johnny placed Levi into bed, he was just like his sister in this way. He was known for just dropping where he was and sleeping if it was because of days full of fun with his twin. Or Levi was always with other Uncle's learning what there was to know about all the animals that the Kingdom kept, wanting to be able to meet and discover what there was about his home.

When the King and Dylan both came out of the perspective rooms of the Prince and Princess, going in the direction of their rooms, and just enough down the hallway that their voices would not wake up the sleeping twins, Dylan asked a question that had been burning inside him still.

"Mr. DeSoto.... I mean Johnny tell me again how my mom died? "Dylan asked as he looked up at his King and unofficial father in law while they walked. It was not uncommon for Dylan to be found with the King or Queen when he was not with Alice and Levi.

"Dylan you know that it is unhealthy for you to obsess over this and besides that was 16 years ago. But if hearing it again will help you heal, I will oblige you... Your mom died giving birth to your sister. She was already very sick with the flu and just the stress of not wanting to lose your sister and trying to stay healthy. But, Kaia and I decided as soon as we heard, we were going to take you in and help raise you as one of our own. But then, when Alice starting taking a liking to you, we knew we couldn't. If the chance came, that she grew to have feelings for you, and couldn't marry you because of being 'siblings'... So you are not our child, but you are family to us."

"Okay."  Dylan answered, having that bit of relief come over him, he was not an orphan, he was considered a part of the family.

"it's time for you to get some rest". Johnny said to him gently patting him on the back, just as if he was his own son. Thinking about his other three children. Alice had fallen asleep in the floor of the sitting room listening to a story her grandfather was telling. Levi was just about out when his father helped stand him up and walk him to his room.

"Yes Sir". (Dylan has been taking care of Alice since he was 9 and she was 6 Alice, cannot speak) As Dylan walked in the direction of his room from the hallway he had been walking down Mendel, Alice and Levi's younger brother came out of his room rubbing his eyes that looked like they had been open for quite some time.

He asked in a small whisper, "Dylan will you read to me?" Looking up at the sixteen year old with hope in his tiny eyes.

"Awww little buddy  did you have a bad dream again?" The little boy nodded yes, stepping back into his bedroom, letting his little feet glide against the carpet.

"What was the dream about?" Patting the smaller one on the head gently.

"I can only really remember is darkness, there was a sense of fear. Like a deep uncomfortable feeling that just will not leave no matter what you do."

"Were you reading something scary before you went to bed? Or did you overhear something that might not have been for you to hear?"

"No, I just started to get this funny feeling as I slept, I tired waking up to get rid of the feeling, but because I was asleep, I obviously couldn't exactly wake myself up."
