I wore my best tux, gelled my hair as I was getting ready for the grand party. Moreover, my Sohni Kuddi is my date, I cannot wait to see her. I also succeeded in convincing her to work with our company, this way I could spend more time with her. At first I thought maybe she's one of those good girls that won't care for money, but guess what? I was wrong. Chote is right when he keeps on telling me, "Veere, banda kinna vi ameer hojaye, paise di bhuk kadi na janhdi hai."
Whatever maybe the reason, I was happy that I got what I wanted. Due to my little research, I came to know that she was invited too and had no date. Her past incident of making a boyfriend just to go to a party with, was not a hidden fact for me anymore. I knew she needed me. And I asked her. Ofcourse she agreed, as if she had a choice. I sat in my car and told my driver the address. Throughout the drive I was lost in her thoughts. We reached soon. I hope she comes on time, I hate people who are not punctual.
Fifteen minutes passed, still she was not here. I called her twice and each time she said ' yup coming in five. ' I was growing impatient with every passing second. I came out of the car and shut the door in pure rage. Then I started pacing around trying to calm my nerves. How could she be so irresponsible? Is this how professionals behave? Because of her for the first time in my life I will be late for an event. That's why I never go anywhere with Chote too, he has this same problem, he is never ready on time.
' Hi! I am so so sorry..' I heard her voice and turned around. She was rushing down the lane in her high heals holding her saree up with her one hand and the handbag with the other. And then, the only thing I was afraid off happened, in her rush, she twisted her heals and fell bum first on the ground with an ' ouch ' I tried to reach before she hits the ground but my bad. I helped her up while offering her my hand. ' Are you alright? ' I asked her politely. She muttered some curses under her breadth. I chuckled at her cuteness and walked with her hand in hand towards the car. ' Excuse me? You said something? ' I asked her as I opened the door of car for her. She took her time to get seated and arranging her saree before she replied, ' this is the second time that I saw you and am hurt ' she said in her irritated tone. I burned with rage for the second time today. Is this the girl I liked? The girl who eats so much oily food, is not punctual and can do anything for money? And here she is, blaming me? ME? Please someone tell her that I was the one who helped her the last time she was hurt. ' So you think am a bad omen for you? ' I asked her a bit aggressively.
' Shit Sherlock ' she said sarcastically. I huffed in response and said ' if you had so much problem with me, you shouldn't have agreed to go with me as a date tonight. '
' Excuse me! Let me remind you, you were the one to ask me to go with you ' she said in a bit annoyed tone. We didn't even realized until the car stopped that while we were busy bickering here, we already reached the venue. I got out of the car immediately, she did the same. ' Fine then! Go find some replacement date to spend your day with ' I told her angrily now. ' Gladly ' she said with her fake smile and started walking in. The nerve of this girl. I followed her lead and entered the party. The environment was filled with rock music, couples dancing and having drinks, everyone lively and enthusiastic. I felt light. I greeted a few of my associates and made myself comfortable. She was nowhere to be seen and I was glad. Khushi and Rudra were yet to arrive. A few girls came to me, just to seek my attention. Given the name and fame that I had, I was used to all this. I knew exactly how to ignore them.
It was then that I saw her talking flirtatiously with Vedh. How could she? If she could enjoy, even I could. I went towards the bartender and ordered a few drinks, my stubborn eyes never leaving her face. Zoya came towards me and leaned close. I didn't stop her like I usually do.
' Seems like our dates are having fun together, so we should too? ' she whispered seductively in my ear over the loud music. She was right. I nodded and held her by her waist.
The music stopped and a soft rhythmic song of Mere Hath Me Tera Hath Ho from the movie fanna played as the couple of the day, Khushi and Rudra entered the hall hand in hand. Khushi in her bright white gown, looking like a princess and Rudra in his white tux looked as handsome as ever. Both of them performed a wonderful number on the song. All of us, the audience were awestruck at this beautiful entry. All the while they kept staring into each other eyes. There presence meant the presence of pure love and romance. I have never seen someone so much in love. After a loud applause for there performance, Khushi announced that it was a grand evening for her as well as us, and she will make sure to keep us entertained. She then asked everyone to get on the dance floor with their dates. The couple with the best performance will be awarded the couple of the day. Everyone clapped and I saw that Vedh offered his hand to My Sohni Kuddi and she gladly agreed and moved to the floor. I immediately searched for Zoya who was now shamelessly flirting with Rudra. I went towards them, wished Rudra a great birthday and then asked Zoya for her dance. She was stunned at first, but a moment later we were walking hand in hand towards the dance floor too.
