Don't forget about that little star at the bottom, and comment. They add soooo much to the chapter.Dante had texted me first thing in the morning, You're all mine tonight and rather than his contact being his name, it was a red heart emoji. I couldn't help but think of the hundreds of different ways tonight would play out. I was distracted all through out my meeting with Gavin which turned out to be nothing but a monthly check up on how things were going.
I was so excited that I skipped back to the hotel despite the dark, cloudy sky, and bitter wind. I was grateful for the brightly lit, heated lobby. It was like another world compared to outside which was cold, and gray. I found Dante standing in the lobby talking to a middle aged man in an Armani suit, and a woman who I assumed was his wife.
The woman began to smile at me before I even got to them. Dante turned around only to look at what caught her eye. "Hey, you're back earlier than I expected." He casually put his arm around my neck. The simple gesture gave me butterflies.
"Are you going to introduce us?" The lady asked with that same big smile.
The corners of his lips involuntary poked up, creating a small shy smile. "This is Skyla." He said. The happy woman had an even bigger smile than before. "Skyla, these are Sean's parents. Anthony and Susan. They own the hotel."
I shook their hands. Susan seemed to be really happy. I came from money, but everything about them, even to me looked expensive. I wouldn't have been surprised if there was a helicopter waiting for them on the roof.
"It's nice to meet you." She said. "Dante is like a son to us. I had a feeling he was seeing someone."
"Oh yeah, I guess so." I didn't know how to respond to her comment. We never actually had The Talk.
"So where are you guys off to tonight?" Anthony asked, not looking in my direction.
"I'm not sure yet."Dante and Anthony seemed to be having a private conversation. Silent looks were being passed between the two of them and they didn't appear to be happy ones. A part of me wasn't convinced that the purpose of this conversation was to discuss our plans.
"Well whatever you do, I'm sure you'll have fun." Susan cut in, pulling their attention onto something else.
Anthony nodded. "It was nice meeting you, Skyla." He said, finally turning his head in my direction. "Dante, I'll see you tomorrow." It sounded like a demand.
"If I'm not busy, then yes." The tension between them could be spotted from a mile away.
After they left I asked Dante what happened. "Nothing. He just worries." About what? "They took me in when I came to America, I was only sixteen." This topic seemed to make him uncomfortable, there was a stoic expression on his face and it wasn't very welcoming, so I decided to drop the subject.
"What did you have in mind for tonight?" I asked him instead. We were still in the lobby, which was buzzing with families staying for the holidays.
"I just want to get one thing clear." He said to me. "I really suck at the whole dating thing." I laughed. "But I figured we could give it a try." He leaned down to kiss my forehead then the tip of my nose. "What do you say?"
It was an actual question. It was obvious that he wanted me to say yes, but there was room for no. "That's a good idea." I tilted my head up so that his lips brushed against mine. He began to add some pressure to the kiss, but we were interrupted by a little girl who threw her Barbie across the room and then began to cry. As unappealing as that whole scene was, my mind, against my will began to imagine what our kids would look like.
