"Klaus."
He doesn't answer me. Instead, he stares ahead as we walk beside each other. When we reach the door, he hands me a small card.
I look down at it and see the numbers: four, two, eight, seven, six.
"What is this for?"
"It is the password to your office." He motions his head toward a small touch screen pad on the other side of the door which I walk over to and type the numbers into.
There's a click which signifies the door has been opened.
"Thank you." I whisper to Klaus, who is holding the door, as I walk by.
"You're welcome."
The space isn't as large as Mr. Burke's, but it still has a large view of the city below.
There is a book shelf to the left and a small lounge area to the right. It is complete with a large semi-circle desk.
This room was very innovative indeed.
"You like it?" Klaus asks as he closes the door.
I walk behind the desk, sit in the large swivel chair, and spin around.
"Yes, very much." I stare ahead at Klaus who has taken a seat in front of me as if he is someone I am supposed to be advising. "Now-"
"Yes, I know." Klaus exhales."I suppose you'll have questions."
I laugh sarcastically and lean forward on the desk, switching off the hologram projection of the king, so I can see him clearly.
"Of course I have questions! You were inside of my head, and your eyes-"
"My eyes." The smirk that tugs at his lips fuels my anger.
"Yes your eyes! How did they glow like that?"
"Well-"
I hold my hand up."I'm not finished yet."
"I had a feeling you wouldn't be." He laughs while placing his elbows on the table.
"Why did you ask me what I was?" My voice is calmer now.
He finally settles for another deep breath and looks me dead in the eye.
"Alliana you're...different from everyone else."
"That's how you choose to start this conversation? You're aware of how cliche you sound, right?"
He rolls his eyes."There's no non cliche way to start a conversation like this."
I wait in silence which takes as his sign to continue.
"You see, I know this may sound completely absurd, but you and I, are gifted, to put it plainly."He draws out slowly and my jaw drops."It's a very rare thing to be gifted Alliana, and having something so rare also becomes something dangerous."
My eyebrows furrow."Dangerous for us?"
"Yes." He says and glances around the room quickly."For us, because people in higher positions of power fear our abilities and, therefore, would rather have us dead, then on their side."
"Are you talking about the king-"
"Yes, and the prince as well." Klaus cuts me off."I'm sorry for being so vague at the moment Alliana, however, you must understand that I've never revealed this information to anyone else before."
"I don't understand Klaus, what are you? What am I?"
"I'm a telepath of sorts, which is why I can read your mind, and influence you so easily."He furrows his own brow."But as for you, I don't know yet."
