Leona's POV
~
"God damn it Klaus" She mutters as the cool evening air brushes stray pieces of her hair back and the light rain dampens her face. She had just barley escaped the watchful security guards and abundance of cameras littering the walls.

She shifts the keys and vile in her palm. The weight of both of these objects now holds more meaning than she would have liked, but, a promise is a promise.

Leona had been a trusted and well liked member of the vampire community for as long as she could remember. She had followed the same path as her parents before her as a medical expert and could not remember a time when she was not practicing medicine or conducting research under the orders of the king. That was, the old king.

Since King Mephistor had taken the throne, her previous memories of simple medicinal practice had become dampened by the strange commands handed out.

The King was looking for something. What that something was, Leona did not know.

He had given each proffessional a task of figuring out a way to stop the long-term effects of the deadliest conditions known in the world. A sample of the cure that was created was to be given to him immediately. A sample of each disease was presented to each doctor and initially studied. As different cures were founded and presented before the king with the intention of pleasing him, he only became more angered and fueled the search even further.

Leona's given illness was the deadly effects of lycan venom on a vampire body. For months she watched her colleagues  successfully find cures to their given diseases while she struggled to figure out the answer to her own problem. The venom was simply too strong to be diluted.

That was, until Klaus had shown up at her lab with a deadly virus that could only be controlled with her lycan venom.

Klaus, her interesting cousin had always been the perfect child. He graduated at the top of his class from the academy, landed a well sought after position as the kings most trusted advisor, and, was great friends with both the king and his son. After his parents were murdered in a Resistance raid, he had become more distant, a mere shadow of the outgoing successful man he once was. Not that Leona could blame him. If her parents had been killed the same was his had she would have undoubtably shut herself off as well.

Throughout the years the two had always stayed connected. Family was family after all and they had grown up together.

She had no idea that this situation would have befallen Klaus. Although she had no idea what this situation was, she felt an undying need to aid her family member in his time of need. However, now Klaus has been taken by Mephistor's royal guard, and, judging by the wanted holograms and warnings on the news, Klaus was wanted badly, and, who knew what the new king would have planned.

He would be charged with treason and undoubtably subjected to the most cruel punishment imaginable. The kingdom of Illinkus was kept in order mainly because it's citizens feared the higher powers. This fear was just disguised as love. Leona had seen it many times, and, infect, even with the family of Alliana Nixon. Her father was obsessed with the idea of the king and the way he ruled, however, when the situation was truly broken down, his brainwashing was apparent. The man was truly after perfection. The memory erasing serum that she had created by his command had been with the intention of permanently getting rid of his second daughter from, not only his mind, but also the minds of the wife and Alliana.

Had the serum worked? Yes. But at what cost?

That is the thing about families in Illinkus with high social class. Perfection is the only thing they crave, and, they are willing to do anything to achieve it.
