I've just now realized that it is nearly impossible to do anything after being shot.

The bullets that Caleb was armed with were a specialty silver that was created to cause maximum damage to vampires. Although it would not kill a vamp, it would cause them immense pain and agony.

Thanks Caleb

I lean against the wall of the resistance medical center and catch my breath as another wave of pain surges through me.

"You're doing great, Al." Caleb says encouragingly from in front of me."This is such great progress!"

I've gotten used to his babying method over the past twenty four hours. Caleb feels personally responsible for my almost death, and, because of that, he has taken it upon himself to be my personal nurse.

I attempt to take a few more steps forward before the pain in my chest returns again.

"I wouldn't really call this progress." I bite out. My fists are clenched at my sides to help relive some of the pain.

"Well, you couldn't walk yesterday and now you're walking so that's progress to me." He responds. He is either completely oblivious, or, ignoring the irritation in my tone on purpose.

I choose not to respond. Instead, I focus on the task at hand.

A few more steps. I think. Then I'll be back in the comfort of my bed

According to Caleb, the walking would help me regain respiratory confidence. Even this small bit of exercise was beginning to weigh heavily on my body.

"I think I'm done for today." I gasp before sliding to the floor.

Caleb comes over and offers his hand to help me up. I accept it and lean my weight into him.

"Don't worry, Al." He says."You'll be better in no time."

I look up at him and offer a small smile.

Even though I'm not sure if I believe him.

Klaus' POV
~

Klaus couldn't help but feel uneasy as he shifted in the drivers seat of the car that he stole. His green eyes flicker around warily to check for royal patrol.

On a screen not to far ahead is a hologram of Klaus' face.

WANTED FOR TREASON

Screens like that were littered all over Illinkus. Klaus had been constantly lurking in the shadows since he had returned.

Royal patrol officers were running around in squads patrolling the streets searching for Klaus, Caleb, Ryder, and Alliana. All of their faces were plastered up with bold lettered writing for all to see.

Even if Klaus wanted to go back to his job and move on he could not. He was now a traitor in the eyes of the kingdom and would never be accepted again.

When the hologram changes on the board Klaus' eyes flicker towards it again.
