We reach the basement in record time. Myself being dragged behind Caleb alongside Ryder. The entire area is dimmed and gives off an eerie presence.
Caleb leads us through the long isles of storage items. My eyes wander as I try to keep up with his pace. They have everything down here from canned food to jet fuel. I suppose I could have expected the resistance to have a pretty strong survival ability to last this long.
The isles are each a few stories tall. This entire space is gigantic.
As we continue I find parts for cars, propellers for helicopters, and spare tires.
"You guys sure are stocked up." I observe out loud.
"We're trained to be prepared for everything." Ryder responds. "And everything requires a lot of preparation."
That much is clear.
"Look over there!" Caleb says. "Found it!"
A large metal box sits in a corner. It light's are blinking red and slightly obscuring my vision. Caleb walks over to the box to examine it. While he does this I take the opportunity to glance at Ryder. He is already looking at me when I turn my head.
His pale blue eyes stare into mine as his face flashes red on and off. They no longer contain anger and distrust, but determination.
"Walker mentioned that you can get this thing back online?"
Caleb leans his head back."She can definitely get this thing back online."
"You might be overestimating my abilities." I say. "Are we forgetting the fact that I have no control over my powers?"
"If you are able to shut off all of the power in a military grade facility you probably have the ability to turn it back on." Ryder says nonchalantly.
Caleb nods in agreement.
"So I get no say in the matter?"
"If you are going to disagree with us then you get no say in the matter." Ryder answers.
I look over at Caleb with pleading eyes.
"Caleb? You've got to at least have some qualms about this."
Caleb turns to face the two of us.
"Honestly, I-"
"Say one more word Walker and I will end you."
"Oh here we go again Ryder." Caleb begins in annoyance."Always got to play the tough guy-"
He's cut off by Ryder baring his fangs and growling loudly.
This shuts him up. He turns back around and resumes his work on the generator.
"Don't you think that was a little harsh?" I ask Ryder whose face is now back to normal.
He ignores me and stares ahead in silence.
"Alright, Al." Caleb says after a few minutes. "Come here."
I walk over to him and see that he is holding a large wire that looks as though it's been split in half.
I raise a brow.
"What do you want me to do with this?"
