I lean against the hallways wall while talking with my best friend Kat.

"Have you got your dress yet? Ooooohhhhhh myyyyyyy goooooooosh. I'm so excited! I can't wait for the ceremony!"she says.

As you have probably just learned Kat can get pretty excited sometimes.

"Yeah, I went shopping with my mom yesterday." Now it's my turn to get excited. "I love it," I sigh. "It's so beautiful! It's red and black and sleeveless."

"Oh that's gonna look so good on you." She says. "Mines green, also sleeveless. And basically it's awesome.
I absolutely love it. "That is also gonna be amazing on you," I say. I smile fondly at her. "Anyway we better get to the dining level." I say.

Okay so a little background on me and Kat. We met on the first day of preschool and we've basically been friends ever since. Ever since about our last year in primary school (elementary school for all you readers) we were kind of like the kids who were always getting into mischief. Although we barely got caught (that's a total lie). Anyway we've stopped being those kids for a while now but I still look at those years fondly.

"I wonder what's for dinner tonight," Kat says. "Yeah I'm pretty sure Angelina" (our other friend) "said it was pasta." "Oh my gosh this is ending up to be the best day ever."

I think this is pretty obvious, but pasta is Kat's favorite food.

Luckily it actually ends up being pasta. We sit down at our favorite table and start discussing the ceremony again.

"I wonder what job I'll get. I hpe it's something interesting like a doctor", she says. "But I wonder what it would be like to get the most high ranking jobs like a person in the government, or even an outside explorer!"

"Don't get ahead of yourself, I know that we both are basically the smartest kids in our class", (which is true), " but barely anyone gets picked."

"I know, but maybe", she says.

It has been Kats dream since kindergarten to go outside. I'm pretty sure that is why she tried so hard in school, so she could go outside.

Actually I kinda want to go outside too.

"... and then I met your dad." My mom is talking about her commencement ceremony, because tonight's the ceremony. I am so excited!

"Anyway, so what time do you need to get to the chamber?" She asks.

(The chamber is the place were people put on your makeup and do your hair. They do it for you because they want the ceremony to be perfect.)

"Yeah um four." I say, it seems to surprise her. "Four! The ceremony starts at seven." "Well yeah, they really care about it." "Well in my day we did our our own hair and makeup and we got there one hour before the ceremony!" I laugh she seems to really care about this.

"Well I'm just saying, I want to see my baby before it." I sigh, "mo-om."

I stand in the elevator with Kat as we both hold our dresses. I saw hers, and it really will look amazing on her.

We travel to floor 598,784, the chamber. Once we get there immediately a swarm of women and a few men overtake us and force us into chairs. There seem to be at least fifteen different people, all with different jobs all working on me.

I look around there seem to be endless rows of chairs and makeup tables. Although Kat and I are one of the first people there.

After about two hours it seems they have done nothing. All they do is talk about what they are going to do with me.

Finally they have really started, but it is almost as bad as them not doing anything because now they keep poking and prodding me.

When they are done a new herd of people comes to do my hair. Luckily they are way faster than the makeup people. And finally they let me see me.

I gasp.

I have never looked this good like ever.

My raven colored hair is pulled into a bun with diamonds (yes real diamonds) pinned in my hair. And my makeup is well, amazing.

I turn to show Kat.

She looks up and says "eh. ...You have always been the prettiest girl at school. Now you're just pretty...with makeup on.

I smile.

Such a good friend.

"Do you need help getting on your dresses", a busy looking woman says. "Nope", Kat and I say. "Okay, well your dresses are in the dressing rooms are marked Katrina Valeo and Aarika Johnson.

As we walk I tease her about the woman using her full first name. She really hates it.

Its kind of hard getting my dress on since the seamstress tightened it up.

Kat pounds against the dressing rooms wall. "Kat, I'm still changing", I say. "I know but I neeeeed heeeeelp", she says. " I can't zip it up", she says angrily. "Fine, C'mon in", I say grudgingly. I unlock the door and let her in.

She turns around and lets me zip it up. Then Kat turns around. I gasp. It looks stunning on her.

"Wow th..." she interrupts me, "that looks amazing on you", she says. I smile and then hug her. We stand like that until the busy woman comes back and asks, "all done in there? " We say yes and go into the waiting room.

There we talk more about more about the ceremony.

(I know there is a lot of talk about the ceremony- haha)

"I wonder what guy will ask me", she says thoughtfully. "Yeah. We sit there thinking.

I know I told you we had no connection with boys. But I was technically lying. In primary school (which is actually middle and elementary school for all you readers) we got to see boys and they even schooled with us. But in secondary school. Things changed, it seemed that the government thought it was time to be separated and made us have no contact with each other. (I just wanted you to know that.)

"Do you remember primary school when we got to be with the boys", I ask. "Yeah, those were the days. She says. "I've never understood why they separated us."

We sit in silence for awhile remembering the memories.

Then she seems to have a breakout of excitement. "I just can't believe we are here today! I mean I have been waiting for this day since I was like, well, four!"

I laugh.

Kat has some serious mood swings.

"Girls... Girls! Lines, lines we get into the lines that we will enter onto the ceremony's room.

I take a peak into the room.It has to be the biggest and most extravagantly decorated.

There are also white cloth streamers hanging on the ceiling and onto the walls.

Tables with white tablecloths had roses in vases. And mahogany wood chairs. And the wood floors were also made of mahogany. Also the dance floor was humongous.

It was amazing.

"C'mon girls, proper etiquette now. Stand up straight." An annoying looking woman says.

"It's time."
