Tears streamed down her face and she whispered brokenly, “That wasn’t what I meant.” She turned tail and fled, Lilly and Saphire followed her.
Devan opened his door five seconds too late. He ran after her and Fire followed him. The trail ended at the meeting room. The hatch Stormy had first noticed swung slightly on its hinges.
Crap! Does she even know here that goes?” Devan said, pausing. So naturally, like any lovesick boy, he jumped in after her.
Stormy was already out of the tree, having slid down the slide that ended in the gaping hole in the entrance room to the tree. She was running, ghosting through the trees. No one saw her, no one heard her. Not even the prong, who now knew that they were the real deal.
She came to a small clearing around two miles from headquarters. She sat with her back against a tree and her arms on her knees and forehead on her arms. Lilly sat on her shoulder. Saphire lay down and curled around her, almost completely hiding her.
Devan was following Fire, having found out that he was an extremely good tracker. Of course to track Stormy, you had to be. And, he could telepathically find Saphire anywhere. So, to find Storm was to follow Fire, which wasn’t hard.
Stormy is close, Fire informed him. At which time a paw materialized out from the trees and caught Devan on the shoulder, tearing skin and tissue. Then it attacked the bristling dragon. “Argh! STORMY, RUN!” he screamed.
Stormy heard, and indeed, she did run, toward him. She drew her sword. She came upon a scene from a horror movie. Devan lay under a deformed, gray creature with Devan’s and Fire’s blood dripping from its claws. It grinned at the shocked Stormy, showing pointy yellowed teeth.
“You hurt him! I’ll kill you!” she shouted. She struck, but it dodged, causing her to slash its arm open. Then she got its leg. The thing howled and lurched away through the trees. Stormy fell to Devan’s side. That was the first day she did magic. She Transported them all, Lilly perched on her, Saphire and Fire curled around them, to the meeting room. They Appeared in front of Evans, “Help!” Stormy choked out.
Evans was instantly on the floor beside Devan, “What happened?”
“I-I don’t know for sure. A hunched, gray creature attacked him. I don’t know what it was.”
werewolf. Fire limped over and licked his wounds.
“Oh man, Get bandages out of that drawer now! There’s no use in healing it with magic, werewolf wounds, on humans, are immune to that.” He Summoned a bowl of water and other wound cleansers and herbs. He cleansed the wound. In unconsciousness, Devan winced.
Evans tore off Devan’s shirt and wrapped his shoulder. Then Evans Summoned a pillow and blankets and wrapped them around Devan. He then healed Fire scratch with words from the Grammarye language. He got up and went over to where Stormy was standing.
Silent tears streamed down her face, “It’s all my fault.” Her voice only shook a little, “I’m the one who ran away from him.”
Her knees gave out and she collapsed into Evans arms. She was inexplicably fatigued. He held her and said, “I thought you didn’t like me like that.”
She frowned up at him, “I’m sad and tired, for once.” She laughed a little and continued, “What’s going to happen to Dev?”
“He’ll be okay, but we’ll need to make a potion called Wolfsbane. It will allow him to remember one person who adds their essence to it, and allow him to control himself, somewhat, we believe. Naturally, it will be you. We can’t afford you to get hurt.”
