After supper Evans and Aireya took them to a big room to practice their magic. It had a trough full of water in the middle of it. “Okay, this is your practice room. Today we strengthen you.”
Aireya took over then, she motioned them over to the trough. “You will make balls of water. It’s fairly simple. Mohreda.”
A twisting, turning sphere of water came up out of the trough. Aireya smiled, “Theryte.” The sphere zoomed toward Evans’ head. It crashed against him, knocking him back on his butt, soaked to the bone. Devan and Stormy roared with laughter and Aireya joined in. Evans’ face turned red and a sphere of water speeded toward Aireya’s head. She merely said, “Catista.”
The ball stopped and she reversed its course to Devan, he copied her and directed it to Stormy. They tossed around spheres of water. Only occasionally missing it, and getting soaked. They threw until they dropped from exhaustion, which was about six hours later. It was eleven at night.
“Why did you let us go on for that long?” Stormy asked the adults.
“To see how long you could go on. It strengthens you, also,” Evans said and Summoned some food, “Eat.”
“Thanks,” they chorused. Then, they dug in. Soon they felt their strength returning with every bite.
“So, now what?” Devan asked.
“Now, you sleep,” Aireya said.
Devan disappeared immediately, Fire following. Saphire and Lilly followed them automatically.
Don’t worry about it, Saphire said.
Stormy strode down the hall, Evans following her. She peeked over her shoulder and Evans stopped and whistled innocently.
“Are you following me?” Stormy asked, turning all the way around and putting her hands on her hips.
“Do you want me to follow you?”
“Maybe,” Stormy replied.
“Then, maybe I’m following you,” Evans grinned.
“Well, come on, then, “Stormy grinned back. He strode toward her and locked his arms around her waist, swept her off her feet, and swung her around. She wrapped her arms around his neck.
“So much better. I hate having you mad at me.”
“I wasn’t mad at you. I. . . was just shocked, that’s all,” she explained.
“Shocked? Don’t earth guys do that kind of stuff?”
“Devan might, but only because he has been around me forever. Other than that, no. At least, not the normal ones.”
He laughed, “Well they need to learn a few things then, don’t they?”
“Of course they do, I’ve known that for forever.”
He smiled and carried her to the bedroom. He laid her on her bed and lay beside her. He stretched.
Stormy got up, “You stay here. I’ll be back soon.” She walked out the door. She found the shower room and entered bolting the door behind her, with her mind. Simple telekinesis. She had noticed it after the first time she used magic.
“Finally, I can get clean,” she murmured to herself as she undressed. She slipped into the shower and cursed. She had forgotten her clothes. She shook her head at herself and turned the shower on. She hummed a random little tune. She Summoned some pajamas from her room.
