Annie's POV

I paced back and forth, circling my room for what felt like the millionth time. I stared at the clock on the wall and realised I only had 10 minutes to make up my mind. It was 8:50 and I had been up since 6 after tired of tossing and turning under the covers. I was showered, dressed and had even tidied up my room. I slumped on my bed and nibbled nervously on the side of my thumb. Just then I heard the door slam shut and I jumped to my feet and ran down the stairs screaming "Robbie!" He stared at me with dark bags under his eyes. "Good festival?" I said, he just nodded and shuffled into the kitchen. I followed him and sat down opposite him at the table. I tried to suppress the question burning deep inside of me. "Robbiecanihavetheletter!!" I yelled as I watched the clock tick 8:52. He blinked at me a couple of times an then grunted as he shuffled up the stairs.

Eds POV

I tapped my spoon against the side of my 2nd cup of coffee, irritably as I watched the clock tick 9:15. Every time the door swung open I perked up in my seat seeing if it was at last her. But every time my hopes dropped a little lower in time with the ticking of the clock. I bit the inside of my cheek for something to do as I stared impatiently at the clock.

The waitress came over with a complementary biscuit and tried to start a conversation with me. However she was standing in the way of the door and I found myself leaning around her and continuing to gaze at the little shop door. She walked away irritated and left me alone once more.

I traced my finger through the crumbs of the biscuit and gave up. I stood up, payed for my drinks and left the coffee shop. Why had I thought she would come? I'm such an idiot I thought as I kicked a pebble on the floor.

Annie's POV

I re read the letter for the tenth time, taking it all in once more. It was too much to take it all in. How and why were the only words that I could form at the moment as I pushed the letter aside. I needed to hear these words from him.

Eds POV

I thought I heard someone calling my name as I slowly walked down the road, I must be imagining it I thought as I walked through the gates of the park. There it was again I thought but I continued walking up the hill and slumped at the base of the willow tree. I traced my hand over the scratchings in the tree. My name and Annie's together. We had marked the tree on our one month anniversary. Anger built up inside me and I lashed out at the tree, punching it hard. I reeled backwards clutching my now bleeding hand and shut my eyes tight against the pain.

"Ed?" A soft voice said very close to me. I opened my eyes and could barely make out the figure in front of me as the sun glared through the leaves behind them. I squinted against the light and could make the perfect features of Annie. She looked so angelic with the light shining behind her that it couldn't have been real.

I shut my eyes again and lay back on the ground clutching my hand. "What have you done?" Said the sweet voice and I felt her soft hands inspect the wounds on my knuckles. I felt a slight sting and then I opened my eyes and examined my hand: it was now clean and had a small bandage wrapped around it. I looked up into Annie's eyes, it was so typical of her to have had a bandage in her bag. "Thank you" I said. A moment of awkward silence past, it was so strange to be sitting next to someone who used to love you, someone that you still loved. As she shifted slightly I saw a familiar necklace come untucked from her t-shirt.

I reached out and held it in my hand and pried it open, inside was still the picture of us together. "You still wear it?" I asked, confused. She just nodded and continued to stare up at me. "Do you still-" I answered her question by pulling the necklace which she got me from under my sweater. She smiled her beautiful smile when she saw it.
