Robin's P.O.V.
I sat in the waiting room, pretending to read a magazine. Yvonne was next to me, talking to her dad. I could hear his voice, and he sounded worried when he heard about Evan's physical condition. I was staring at a picture of a cat, and was counting the stripes on its tail. I know, so educational, right?A doctor walked towards us, and we both stood up.
"Hello. I'm Doctor Franklin." He shook our hands politely and he sat down next to our seats, motioning us to do the same. "So, Evan is in intense care right now. He has had malnutrition, and his body weight is very low. He did lose a lot of blood, which is really critical. Now, I need to know if he has any eating disorders, considering his weight. Did he have any?"
Yvonne nodded. "He had bulimia."
The doctor nodded, twirling his stethoscope on his wrist. "For how long?"
I glanced at Yvonne and she locked her eyes with mine. I shook my head. Yvonne shrugged.
"I don't know, doctor."
Doctor Franklin nodded. "Alright. That's about all I needed. Since he is still being taken care of, I cannot permit you to see him. Tomorrow, he should be ready for you to see."
We nodded.
"I suggest going home now, it's late. Good day, ladies." he left, his stethoscope still twirling.
I looked over at Yvonne. "There's no point in staying if he is in intensive care." I stood up, pulling my phone out of my pocket. Yvonne nodded, and grabbed her keys from her purse.
Before calling my dad, I asked, "Would you like me to stay with you? Since your dad is working and stuff..."
She threw her arms around my neck. "That would be awesome! We can make it a girls' night! Thanks for offering!"
As we walked out of the hospital, I called my dad. He answered after the third ring.
"Hello, Doctor Halls speaking." he always sounded so professional. It made me laugh whenever he said it.
"Hi, dad! Umm...Evan was put in the hospital and Yvonne's dad won't be home for a while. I was wondering if I could keep her company...well, tomorrow is Saturday...yeah, he was just brought in...really!?!...yes, I will pray for him...yeah...love you too...bye." I put my phone in my pocket as we get into Yvonne's car.
"What did he say, Robin?" Yvonne started driving.
"He said it was fine. He also said that he was one of the people who was working on Evan." I sat back in the seat, the sweatshirt that I was wearing making me sleepy. Yvonne nodded, and then concentrated on driving.
We soon reached the Day's home, just as the sun was setting. A few stars were out, and a sliver of the moon was visible.
I followed Yvonne into the house, and she led me to her bedroom.
The design was cute; it was painted a light pink, and the furniture was brown. There was a window at one end of the room, and a bed on the other. There was a desk on the wall next to the window, and an open laptop was on it, along with what looked like brochures. There was a closet next to the bed. Above the desk was a bullion board with dozens of pictures.
Yvonne kicked off her shoes and slung her coat onto a hanger. I had slipped off my ballet flats when I had come in, so I sat down on one of the beanbags that was sitting on the floor.
"So," Yvonne grabbed a box from her desk. "Do you want to play a game and then watch a movie?"
I nodded. "Which game is that?"
"Clue. Have you ever heard of it?"
I shook my head, and she went into a long explanation. We played it four times, then Yvonne grabbed popcorn and we watched a Disney princess movies, and we watched the whole set of Narnia movies with Anna Popplewell, William Moseley, Skandar Keynes, and Georgie Henley.
After that we ate some fruit slices with pretzels. We played Just Dance for a few hours, and we finally fell asleep at midnight.
I had never had so much fun in my life. It made me get my mind off Evan, or I would have obsessed over it.Evan's P.O.V.
I groaned; my head really hurt, my side hurt. To sum it up, about every organ in my body hurt. I opened my eyes, and found myself in a white bed in a small white room. There was a tube in my wrist, and another in my forearm.
There was also a beeping noise, and a moniter type device overy my heart.
I saw the door open, and a man came in.
"Good morning, Mr. Day." he inspected all the wires and machines next to me, then focused on something on my head. He nodded in approval and then left as soon as he had come in saying, "A nurse will be in here shortly." he smiled, and closed the door behind himself.
I put up a hand to my head and felt a long bandage, running from my hairline to above my ear. As I ran my fingers over it, I discovered something else. They had cut my hair. It was buzzed in just one spot, which probably looked really weird, considering how thick and long my hair was at the moment.
I sighed heavily and closed my eyes. Everything hurt; nothing felt fine except my eyes and face.
A soft voice brought me back. "Good morning. Here is your breakfast." I was being moved to a sitting position, and a tray was placed on my lap. A piece of toast, plain gelatin, and a glass of apple juice was what I had.
I was glad it wasn't very much, because I wouldn't be able to eat anything that was heavy-duty. The nurse waited until I had eaten all of it, then she left.
For a few hours, I got to lie down and sleep. A knock woke me up, and Robin poked her head in.
"Hey, Evan. The doctor said you were awake, so we came to see you."
My sister appeared at her side. She smiled as she came over and drew me into a gentle hug.
Robin hung back, so I gestured for her to come and sit beside me. She did, and I remembered how I had committed my life to Jesus.
How could I have been so thick-headed? God did and always will love me, He was the only one who would never leave me or give up on me. And I had let him down, just like that.
"Robin?" my voice sounded really weak and raspy. "Will you pray with me?"
Robin's eyes glowed, and she threw her arms around my neck.
"Of course! Oh, Evan...I was so worried for you..." she clung to me, and I rubbed her back. We prayed just like that, Yvonne joining us. I was beginning to have hope again. This time, I would get it to stay.
