Evan's P.O.V.
No one ever really knew about what had gone on in my life expect Robin, Ms. Iris, and God.Rob had been noticing my new happiness, and came up one day to ask me about it.
"How can you be so...like, well...happy? You always have a smile now. Before you were different." Rob walked into the cafeteria and sat down next to me. "What makes you so happy?"
I immediately had a reply. "Because of Jesus. He saved me from bulimia, helping me stop. That's why." I drank out of my waterbottle, draining half of it in a minute.
Rob frowned. "You had what?"
"Bulimia."
"Your kidding! No one ever stops from that!"
I shrugged. "You're talking to a person who did."
Rob shook his head. "I can't believe it. My friend was sucked intimately the Jesus Circle."
I leaned my elbows on the table. "It's not like that. He loves you too, you know."
Rob laughed. "Love me? Ha! He'd have to go a long way to love me." he got up. "See you around, freak." he left, leaving me alone. With God.
Please help him, Lord. He needs you. Please help him. I prayed. I had just lost one of my only other friends. He had called me a freak, which couldn't hurt me, because I had Jesus with me. If only Rob knew.
Jesus had been my answer. Even now, almost a year after I had stopped, I still struggled with preventing myself from doing it. I still thought about doing it, but then I would remember how sick I had gotten, and how Robin and my family would feel.
I had seen Robin only once since she had left. She was tan and strong, and was more connected with God than ever. We had met in the city park, on a Saturday. It was the summer after I had graduated.
I had been walking home from cleaning the church when someone had thrown their arms around me.
"Evan! Oh, I missed you so much!" Robin's familiar voice sounded in my ear.
"How's it going in Sudan?" We started walking through the park, stopping to sit on a bench.
Robin shrugged. I noticed that her shoulders were broader. "It's as good as it can get. We've been able to spread the Word of God, and I'm learning the language."
"Really? Is an actual teacher teaching you, or a civilian?" I ran a hand through my hair, which I had grown out past my ears. Yvonne had told me it made me look cute, so I hadn't cut it yet.
Robin shook her head. "No. A boy around my age is." she blushed. "I think he likes me."
I laughed and nudged her. "Well, who wouldn't?"
Robin turned a deep shade of crimson and stared at her hands. "I think I might like him back. Is that bad?" she looked up at me, her gray eyes wide.
I shook my head. "I think it's perfectly fine. Is he a Christian?"
She nodded. "He has been one ever since I met him."
I stood up. "Well, I have to get home. Would you like to come and say hello, or are you busy?"
Robin adjusted her purse strap and stood. "Actually, I was on my way back to the airport. So.."
I nodded. "Okay." I drew her into a hug. Then she left.
I haven't heard from her since that day, but one time, I got an email announcing a wedding had taken place. When I looked at it, it was Robin standing with her arms around a dark-skinned young man. They both looked very happy.
I applied to two colleges, Leaven University, and Duncan College. Leaven accepted me. I would be going there in August to get my degree in science. I would be going without any eating disorders. If Robin hadn't helped me, I would have been too far gone by now.
